Did I see a moment with you in a half lit world? I'm frightened to believe but I must try. If I stumble, if I fall, I'm reaching out in this mourning air. - Portishead

It's been a dark day...but not for the reason you might think. It's been bitterly cold with a blustery wind and a chance of end of days.

Someone said to me today, "I don't know where Fall went, but I want it back." I couldn't agree more. It was freaking freezing here. Well, technically it was in the 40's, but I'm a real wimp when it comes to cold weather. Besides, just a week ago it was in the 70's. I don't know about you, but I need a gradual temperature change, a time to get used to cooler temperatures. I'm the type of person that eases into the cold water in the swimming pool, not the type who just jumps right in.

Adding insult to injury, the time changed this past weekend, and I hate it. The fact that it gets dark before I get off work is just depressing. It has also been dark and dreary during the daylight hours the past couple of days. Dark, dreary, and cold is never a good combination unless you can stay in bed, drink hot chocolate, and read. Alas, I have to pay the bills (and buy Anthro dresses), so out into the cold, dark world I went.

Once I logged onto my computer, I discovered that the online world wasn't any warmer. There was a lot of doom and gloom and down right scary stuff on my Facebook feed today. I mean, I know I'm pretty notorious for doom and gloom myself, (last post anyone?) but even I haven't stooped to these levels. You would think it was the end of the world or something. In fact, some people were saying they wished it was.

I sure as hell don't want to turn this into a political post. I hate politics, and I have had a belly full of it lately. I just want to say that I don't think the problem is our leaders. I think the problem is us. We are all so divided, and it is reflected in the people we elect. There can be no progress without compromise. If we want to see real change then it needs to start with us. This intolerance and judgmental bullshit needs to stop. It's not something that can happen overnight like colder temperatures. It's a gradual process that can start with little things. I mean, if I can put up with your prayer chains and "No Matter Who Is President Jesus is King" posts (can't even count the number of times I've seen that one today) then surely you can put up with my occasional potty mouth and lame ass blog posts.

P.S. I posted the pictures in their original size today, so you may notice that they are a bit bigger. I just thought I'd try something different. Let me know if you like it better. Do not, however, let me know about that big zit on my forehead.

  1. Amen, sister! Completely agree!

I like the pictures this size. Lovely outfit! Looks cozy and comfy and makes me want to bust out that sweatshirt dress I have that I bought after seeing on your blog (bad influence!).

  2. I hate politics too and like you have grown a bit tired of the doom and gloom as well. While I agree that God is in control and sometimes we all need to be reminded of that, it has been quite a bit overwhelming!

On a lighter note I did go back to the pictures in search of the zit! PS ... I couldn't find it!

  4. I'm heavily into politics and am just shocked at the crazy things that are being said on fb (i'm from TX so seceding is apparently an option now). People just need to stop sucking and work together.

You look great in these photos! Your complexion is so dreamy with that colored cardigan!
