Christmas Party Epic Fail

Last night was my company's Christmas party. I had a fun evening planned involving a beautiful dress, a fresh hairdo, and a hot date. I go to this party every year for the sole purpose of dressing up to get my picture taken with my office girls, so I can post the pictures on Facebook and fool everyone into thinking I live a glamorous life. This year was going to be extra glamorous because my date just happened to be a photographer. Also, I planned on posting lots of pictures of my party outfit on the blog to make up for my lack of posts this week. So, how could I possibly screw this up? First of all, I forgot the camera. Then, I proceeded to drink too much wine and get really drunk. Since I was around work people, I had to behave myself and pretend I wasn't drunk which just made me sleepy and cranky. I ended up getting pissed off, leaving early, and passing out as soon as I got home. I didn't get a single picture, not even with my cell phone.

Here's what I wore:
Christmas Party 2011 #1

Trust me, it was oh so very glamorous, dahlings...except when I was slurring my speech, grabbing Jerry's ass, and eating that handful of cakeballs while I was in line for dinner. Oops!

  1. I am SO bummed I missed it! I would have loved to see the look on Donna's face.

  2. Is it okay that this was kind of funny? Sometimes when we have the biggest plans, we mess it all up and make fools of ourselves. Well, at least it was memorable :)

  3. Bonnie, you need a do-over! Dress up and head out to dinner with Jerry! Cheers!

  4. That last paragraph literally made me spit tea on my computer. Too funny.

  5. I love the lace and light dress!!! I'll be snapping it up on sale for my very first office Christmas party (eee!!!) but I have a question about sizing. I heard the dress runs small, but I have a really small bust (nearly B). Do you think I could get away with my usual size 2 or do I need to go up to a 4 (the 2 has me worried it'll be too tight and I'll be spilling out of it and I don't want to be the office Christmas ho lol). I don't have an Anthro near me so I can't try it on :(. Also, please please please take some pics with this dress styled! I haven't seen a single blogger style it yet!

  7. Your honesty is one of your best qualities, Bonnie! I agree with what Catherine said, put that dress back on and take it for another spin... just you and your hot date and a little less wine! Snap some pics for us next time!

  10. I had to size up because of my large bust (size D). However, my normal size fit fine everywhere else, so I think if you have a small bust you can get away with your normal size. I plan on doing a photo shoot with this dress tomorrow, so stayed tuned!

  11. How 'bout I dress up and head out for a photo shoot?

  12. Yes!! I always try to find the good in a situation. If I couldn't share pictures, I was going to at least share my embarassment. :-)

  13. It wasn't that exciting, Alicia. I don't think anyone noticed my bad behavior except Jerry. ;-)

  14. Are you insane? You spent your last post complaining about how buying Christmas presents for you children hurt you financially and yet you flaunt your $250 party dress in this post. You seem to be getting your life turned around nicely but you really need a budget and a shopping-accountability buddy. I'm sure you'll have a nice retort about me being "black and white" or "self-righteous" but do yourself a favor - reread your last post and then look at how much you have spent on clothing over the last few months!!

  15. No, I'm human. Look, I don't blog to portray myself as perfect. This is my life, the good and the bad. If I want to sell my old clothes to buy a $250 party dress then that's my prerogative. Is it the smartest thing? Probably not, but it's my decision or, in your eyes, my mistake to make. I made sure my kids were taken care of for Christmas. They were my first priority. Yes, I suck at finances. I'm the first one to admit it. I'm doing my best here. I have "issues", just as I'm sure you have your own "issues." I'm all for constructive criticism, but the tone of your comments are very condescending. Since you seem to have life all figured out, why don't you move along and not waste your time on someone who is clearly insane?

  16. Try not to get drunk next time. Wow.

  17. The dress, shoes etc. are great. I am sure you looked stunning in this outfit. I agree with Kate that your honesty is one of the best qualities of this blog. By writing and posting about this particular event you placed yourself in a vulnerable position. I also appreciate that you are open about your money issues. It’s all about the choices one makes in life. As long as there’s food on the table, the kids are taken care of and you are not in dept, you are free to spend your money the way you want it.

  19. Oh, you make me laugh. Cakeballs, grabbing ass...sounds like a good party to ME! :o)

  20. She may have been judgmental, but I think my problem is that all you do is acknowledge you're wrong. That's not enough. Yes, while it's great that you have issues, you're not doing what needs to be done. I don't see you trying to budget less for Anthro shopping. If you go back and read your posts, you will probably see that 8/10 of the things you buy are new and FULL-PRICED. I guess I just don't understand how hard it is to wait for sale. If you were really rich, then yeah, do whatever the hell you want. But don't complain about how you're having financial problems when you go out buying tons of full-priced dresses even though half of them would've gone on sale had you simply waited and not expect people to be baffled. This may be hard for you to believe, but a lot of us don't enjoy criticizing you all the time. It's just hard not to when I see what you do.

  21. Good thing I'm not living my life to please you then.

  22. I HATE it when I do that!!! Don't worry, sweetie. It happens to the best of us. I am assuming that Jerry protected you - at least I hoped he did. And as for the shopping thing - no one is perfect. I don't judge - it takes too much negative energy. And by blowing out another's candle, it doesn't make my candle shine brighter. Let's burn our candles together and help each other along by providing more light to help each other to make the way more enjoyable and smoother....... my philosophy anyway. Keep up the awesome personal and professional work! xoxo
