Anthropologie Fitting Room Reviews

Fractal Medallion Maxi ($158) This was the first dress I saw when I walked in the store. If you are familiar with me and my blog then you know that the first dress that catches my eye in a store is usually the one that goes home with me. I fell in love with the summer version of this dress at first sight, and it has become one of my favorites, so I had high expectations for this dress. It did not disappoint. I tried on a small and the fit was perfect. The only thing that bugged me was the pattern on the front was not centered on my body. I know, my OCD strikes again. Hopefully it is a problem isolated to this one particular dress. Wishlisted.

Trifecta Tee($58) and Pilcro Superscript Cords($118) The Trifecta Tee seemed like a pretty little top at a reasonable price, so I was really hoping it would work on me. Not so much. It did nothing for me other than make my boobs look ginormous. I tired on a size small. Pass.
I was so excited when I saw these cords online. Pilcro is my favorite brand of jeans, and I really love the color and flared leg on these cords. In person, I wasn't that thrilled. My usual size 28 fit like a glove, but these just didn't wow me. I'm not sure what the problem was. Maybe I should have tried them with a different top. This color combination is looking pretty Fall festivalish. I look like a human candy corn. I'm thinking a blousy top in a cream color tucked into the pants with a skinny belt in a complimenting non-Fall color (turquoise maybe) would have been a better choice. My goodness, where did that come from? Why wasn't my brain this creative the day I tried these on? They were pretty long on me, so tall wedges or heels would be in order. I think I'll give these another try the next time I'm in a store. Wishlisted.

Agnita Dress($388) I thought this was a cute little dress, so I scooped it up and brought it back to the dressing room with me. I had no idea until I typed this up how much this dress cost. Wow! I never would have guessed that price. I would have thought $168 or so. Crazy... Anyway, considering how much it cost, I find it ironic that the zipper on this particular dress was broken. Since I couldn't zip up the freaking $388 dress, I held it together with my hand to get an idea of how it would fit. I thought it looked pretty good. It was figure flattering and the wool around the neck and sleeves didn't make me itch. I showed photo boyfriend this picture, and he was not a fan, so it may not be a big hit with the man in your life for both financial and aesthetic reasons. Pass.

Bronwen Dress($228)  I hadn't noticed this dress online, but it caught my eye in the store. I tried on a size 6 and found the fit to be a bit big in the chest which is crazy considering I'm not lacking in that department. I think I would need a size 4 in this dress for a better fit. It's a beautiful dress for Fall, and I love the retro feel. I see this dress being versatile in styling as well as in seasons. Again, the price is way up there. I will consider this one once it goes on sale.

Unconditional Osier Dress($168)  This was the item I was most excited to try on. I just think it's a really beautiful piece. The size small fit great, and the cut of the dress was very flattering to my figure. My only complaint was the fabric. It was itchy...and in the worst places - my arms and neck. I can handle some itch on my legs, but the closer it gets to my face the angrier it makes me, and you won't like me when I'm angry. Total deal breaker. :-(  Damn my sensitive skin! Pass.

Twisted Ascot Tee($48) and Pilcro Superscript Flare($118) Let's try the denim version of the Pilcro cords above, shall we? The 28 fit, but I wasn't jumping for joy. I can't really explain why, but I just wasn't into these. I paired them with the Twisted Ascot Tee. Every time I see the word ascot I think of Fred from Scooby Doo. Anybody else do that? Anyway, I liked this tee in the small, but it didn't blow me away. Also it's short sleeved, and I'm really in the market for long sleeved shirts right now. I have plenty of short sleeved shirts at the moment, and I'm trying to break my addiction to "throwing a cardigan over it" in the colder months. Pass on both.

Crewel Paisley Tee and Pilcro Stet Slim Straight($98)  The favorite item of the day award goes to the Crewel Paisley Tee. It's green, it's embroidered, and it's boho. What's not to like? Well, it is a little short waisted, but I can live with that. I couldn't get to this one online. Anybody know the deal with that? Is it sold out already? I sure hope not because I need this top in my life one day. Wishlisted in a size small.
I finally decided to take a trip into the world of colored jeans. These are Pilcro's so I knew the fit would be great, and it was, but I'm just not digging on these. Maybe I'm not ready for colored jeans, maybe I just haven't found the right color for me, or maybe I was just tired of trying on things at this point. Pass.

  1. Did you happen to try the new Slung Sash Tee? For some reason, every time I see it in the the "moss" color way it makes me think Bonnie! Really random question... what color & brand is your nail color? Your nails always look flawless in the close-ups. I have a similar skin tone and am searching for the perfect shade.

  2. Love the green top in the last pic! Get it! Those pants, however, are not doing you any favors. You can totally do colored jeans! Just get some that aren't so tight in the nether regions. Those are a great color for you, btw.

  3. I really, really want the Unconditional Osier Dress now. I'm cheap and usually wait for sales before I buy, but I think this might be a good investment.

  5. LOL! Thanks Intrigued. Yeah, I must admit I noticed the nether regions issue myself after I posted these. I was hoping people wouldn't stare at my crotch. Embarrassing... Maybe I'll try them in a 29 the next time I'm in the store. If they work out, I'll be sure to give you props!

  6. No, Kate, I didn't. I'll have to check it out. My nail color is Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Pink Slip. If found myself laughing as I read your comment. My nails are really jacked up today. I really need to work on them this morning. Flawless they are not! LOL!
