"Storm clouds break. Pools remain memories for Earth embrace that umbrate up above. They become new love." - Death Cab For Cutie

"If you wish to make anything grow, you must understand it, and understand it in a very real sense. 'Green fingers' are a fact, and a mystery only to the unpracticed. But green fingers are the extensions of a verdant heart."
— Russell Page

Something new is always exciting. Take this dress for instance. I tried it on a month ago and fell in love. I didn't have the money at the time to make it mine, so I threw it out there to anybody who would listen that all I wanted for my birthday was this dress. I was overjoyed when I received it as a gift on my birthday. Naturally, I couldn't wait to wear it, so I wore it the very next day. Now the newness is over. The thrill of the chase is gone. It could be so easy to look for the next new thing that would give me those feelings all over again. Instead, I'll nurture in my mind new ways to style it and get excited about all the possibilities.

Such is the case with anything new. People will say, "You just love it because it's new. Once the newness wears off, you'll be looking for something else." This often times can be true. It's happened to me many times before, and it could happen again. However, I think if you truly love and understand something, your heart can remain verdant and your love can grow and flourish with possibilities that are limitless.

  1. Love the dress! I find that reorganizing can make things seem new. When ever I clean out and pretty up my closet I get to see everything I have organize it really nicely and it makes me feel like I just went shopping.

  5. I guess what I would like to see on the blog, if you are going to post personal things, is some real self-examination. As in, here are areas in my life I've made huge mistakes and I'm going to take several months to look at them and correct my behaviors. We all have them, I'm not singling you out. But it concerns me when what I see is the self-centered pursuit of what you want, constantly buying clothes, finding a new man, things centered on YOU. As a mother myself that concerns me. I don't advocate sacrificing everything for those you love, but there seems to be such a huge focus on self on your blog lately and that's not balanced. Just a thought.

  6. Maybe Elly, she realized that her unhappiness was destructive to those around her. Maybe, the selfish thing would be for her just to stay in her comfort zone and be miserable and creating dysfunction all around. Perhaps she does need to focused on herself so that she can be a positive impact on those around her. Her children seeing her sad and depressed is not a good thing for their cognitive growth. So why don't you back off and let her work through this instead of assuming you know anything about her motives. Just a thought.

  7. I just discovered your blog and am totally amazed. It's so beautiful and complex.

reading through the comments I'm shocked at peoples cruelty. As a blogger myself I've experienced the cruelty of anon commenters over things as mundane as how clothing fits. Your putting yourself out there no matter what you say and you will always be a target to peoples cruelty. It's sad that cruelty and judgement is the example they are to their children. Perhaps they are upset because you are living your truth and they are still hiding under a rock and completely repressed?

Hope you keep creating in this wonderful space.
