Rebellion

"People say that your dreams are the only things that save you. Come on baby, in our dreams, we can live our misbehavior." - Arcade Fire

It was a busy Monday. My boss has given me so much to do lately, but I'm not complaining. I managed to put a little dent in it today. I need to try to get as much done as possible, because my big trip to D.C. is next week. I can't wait! I'm still waiting on my Valentine's Day present, the Soft-Structured Dress, to get here. I tracked one down in my size in New York last week. Hopefully, it will be here tomorrow. I'm ready to wear the thing already!

I decided to rebel against the "cliche" red that alot people wear on this day, and wear my green dress from The Limited. Since I've lost so much weight lately, I thought now would be a good time to wear this fitted dress. I paired it with my black shrug and my lace tights. What did I do before this shrug was in my life? I love that it keeps my arms warm but doesn't cover up the rest of the outfit. Speaking of warm, it felt so good outside today. Nothing brightens my spirits more than sunny, warm weather. I've been in an excellent mood all day!

I didn't watch the Grammy's last night. I'm a Indie Rock girl, and there is usually no Indie Rock on the Grammy's. Besides, I hate awards shows. However, Facebook was all abuzz last night about some "no name" group who won Album on the Year. People were down right pissed. They just couldn't understand how this unknown band could beat out the likes of such talent as Eminem or Lady Gaga. The band that won was Arcade Fire, and they are one of my favorites. Yes, it's hard to imagine they gave the award to someone with actual talent who is capable of playing an instrument. Good job, Grammy's. I'm proud of ya! LOL!

Today's song is Rebellion(Lies) by none other than Arcade Fire. This is off my favorite album of theirs, "Funeral." This song is about "letting fears and people's overcautious advice keep you from living."

It seems like it's been forever since Anthro had a sale. I wonder if there will be one tomorrow? I'm trying to save what money I have left in my budget for my trip next week. Since I'm feeling rebellious today, we'll see what happens. Have a good night!

  1. Hey Bonnie - great post! We Canadians are still spinning proudly from little ole Montreal's Arcade Fire winning Album of the Year!! Kudos to the panel for recognizing talent that comes from the music, not the hair-do! Not all of us need to be spoon-fed our choices of music, eh? Gorgeous outfit, btw...

  4. Lol - that made me laugh as well, I've been an Arcade Fire fan since my husband and I got together in 2005 and he played their stuff a lot. How some sections of the media/music etc remain so oblivious to other artists amazes me. They did Glasto last year over here and were immense.

Also immense is todays OOTD - that dress is SO flattering and in that colour, very Joan mad men :)

  7. I am a huge fan of people with long hair who fix it, and don't just let it hang. Your hair always looks nice, down and up. :)

  9. Bonnie, this bright green color looks stunning on you. The chevron stripes in the dress are such a fun detail. And I love your long hair. I think it suits you well. And it's absolutely gorgeous -- color, texture, everything! And honestly, your hair styles are an inspiration to me. And I admire all the creative ways you style it. I have the tendency to throw mine in a ponytail and run out the door, so I love to see how beautiful yours always looks!
