Bianka in the Winter

"Oh in the evening, I stumble my way towards another day. We struggle, it's dark out, it's time now that I pick up my hustle." - Menomena

It was the best day of the week so far. I'm starting to feel like my old self again. Are there things in my life I wish I could change? Yes, but I've decided to "keep calm and carry on." I got little people counting on me, and I'm not gonna let life get the better of me. I'm gonna try to enjoy the little things in life - like this pizza I'm eating right now. Hmm...so good! Nothing note-worthy happened today. Just sat behind my little desk, did my job, and came home. It was a "normal" day. Hey, I'll take it!

Each morning when I go into my closet, I see by beloved Bianka blouse hanging there. I think I was one of the first bloggers to get this blouse. It was love at first sight for me. Problem is, I haven't been able to wear it much now that's it has turned cold. Kim talked about this same dilemma in this post. Her solution was to wear a short-sleeved cardigan over it. Brilliant! Problem is, that's great for the cooler months in the fall and spring, but we have a hard-core winter going on here in NC right now, so that solution isn't going to work. I was determined to wear this blouse today. It makes me happy, and let's face it, I could use some happy right now. So, this is what I came up with. I tucked the sleeves over my shoulders, and put the Hiking Ruffles Cardigan over it. I think this cardigan works because it has these folds of fabric that lay over the shoulders concealing any lumps or bumps from the Bianka sleeves. Apparently, this is my new favorite sweater. I've worn it 3 times since Friday. LOL! I finished things off with a teal belt, black tweed trousers, and the Raines heels (again). I love how this turned out. I was warm, happy, and lump free!

I'm leading my pictures off today with a rare smile. I usually try to keep my "model face." LOL! Things have been pretty doom and gloom around here lately, so I'm trying to brighten things up a bit. The hubster was actually in a good mood and was saying things to make me laugh while he took these pictures.

The song of the day is by the phenomenal Menomena (I love saying that! LOL!). I saw this band live a few months ago, and it was one of the best shows I've been to in awhile. There's nobody else out there like this band. They are truly unique. The name of the song is "Muscle 'n Flo." Some people say this song is about prostitution or drug-dealing, but I like to think it's about working at a job or doing anything your not happy with and having to "get up strong and muscle on." This is from the album Friend and Foe. Every song on this album is awesome! Check it out, you won't be disappointed! Well, I'm going to go get some sleep so I can get up in the morning and "muscle on." Have a good night!

  4. When I received my Bianka last week I tucked the ruffle part of the sleeve under/into the sleeve (if that makes sense?) so that I could test it with a cardigan with sleeves, it worked and stayed flat without looking bumpy etc then when I took the cardi off the ruffles stayed tucked under!

I still don't know if I am keeping mine, I got my usual size but it is really big, I probably should have checked the reviews re: sizing. Doh.

It's lovely to see you smile Bonnie :)

  5. I agree that you have the most gorgeous smile, Bonnie. I'd love to see it in more photos.

Glad to hear that you're feeling a bit better today. I'm so sorry you've had a string of really rough days recently. Hang in there, lady!

I love how you were resourceful with the Bianka and figured out how to make it work with a cardigan. And you're right -- no lumps or bumps to be seen!

  7. Hi Bonnie, glad to see that you're feeling better! And also, I have to comment again how much I love your music features - I love Menomena! Can't remember if you ever posted a song from either of them before, but they kind of remind me of Arcade Fire or Wolf Parade...
Anyways, great idea on the Bianka blouse! Of course I loved it so much that I bought it at full price and have been waiting and waiting for spring to wear it...!
