"Never knew love like this." - Cat Power

Well, I'm wearing my handkerchief dress again or as some like to call it "the sack." I just love this dress. It's so me, and the bonus is that it's a perfect match for my new bracelet. I picked the bracelet up on sale last week at Anthropologie. I really wanted the turquoise version, but it sold out before I could snatch it up, so I settled for this one. Actually, settled is not a good choice of words since I'm really digging this color too.

I've noticed that I'm really into things with a Native American/Southwestern vibe lately. Pretty much everything I've bought the last couple of months or have had a hankering to buy has been in that genre. In fact, it's gotten so bad that I'm eating a Southwestern salad from McDonald's as I type this. I think I've always been into that sort of style, but it's just easier to find those types of items these days in versions that are not too over the top. I'm pretty sure that Fall looming over the horizon has something to do with it, as well. Geo tribal print cardigans, suede moccasins, and fringe boots just seem to equate Fall to me. Speaking of Fall, it's suppose to turn cooler here on Sunday with highs in the 70's. I'm sure this will only serve to kick my Southwestern desires into overdrive.

Jerry had to go home from work early today to oversee the installation of our alarm system, so he is starting his weekend ahead of time. Poor thing thought he was going to lounge around the house all day, but I nipped that in the bud. Since the burglary, we have implemented pretty much every suggestion we have received in order to prevent it from ever happening again. We've cut bushes back, reinforced the doors, started dead bolting the doors, and installed an alarm system. The only thing left was to get a guard dog. Nessie is cute to look at and all, but when it comes to scaring away would be burglars, she just doesn't cut it. Jerry has been wanting a Boxer, and I think Nessie would be happier with a companion, so instead of lounging around on his day off, Jerry is on his way right now to get us a little Boxer puppy. It was a spur of the moment decision. I Googled Boxer puppies and found a couple of females available two hours away that just captured my heart. I told Jerry to call and the next thing I knew, he was calling me back saying he was on his way to pick one up. 2 puppies and 3 kids - we must be glutton for punishment!

Speaking of glutton for punishment, I've decided to make a trip to Anthro tomorrow to return an item. The return might be an exchange, depending on what I find when I get there. My plan is to not spend any money. It's going to be tough, but if I can pull it off, I will be so proud of myself. I'll be sure to snap some pics for reviews while I'm there. Hopefully, I'll be up to trying on a lot of items for you guys. However, after a night with a new puppy, I have a feeling I'll be the worse for wear. There's a lot of stress that comes with a new puppy. I guess I'll just have to take up smoking a peace pipe. ;-)

  1. Beautiful choice of background for this shoot. And I think "the sack" looks good on you.

  2. My neighbor has a Boxer named Harley Davidson and he is the sweetest dog in the world! He cries and whines when he sees my little 5 pound Pomeranian puppy Winston and gives Winston kisses all over his face. It's really kind of deceptive because he looks so scary! I hope the two dogs get along but I have a feeling they will :)

  3. You are a riot, Bonnie! Southwest salad from McDonald's! I just had one of those last night! Mmm!

Two puppies...you are nuts! Good luck with that! Hide your shoes! I'm glad you are taking precautions with the house though. Hopefully, the police have found more of your stuff.

I actually walked into Anthro this week, tried a bunch of stuff on and believe it or not, walked out empty handed! If I can do it, you can too! Of course, I had already succumbed to the 25% off sale stuff sale and am waiting for that stuff to arrive. Guess I'm not that good. :/

  4. Well, since you're on a Southwestern bend, maybe you would like the Blue Mesa Sweater Skirt from Anthro... and if you should try it on, please take a pic because it happens to be on my wishlist! :)

  6. Pretty dress - it'd look great with a faded denim jacket, too!

Yes, I can see the improved security from your pictures, as there is more than one door knob on your front door (assuming that it is the front door of your house). Sorry to hear you've had a break-in. I hope nothing of significant value was taken. It's only when things like these happen that people start taking their security more seriously. You should also check your alarm system regularly to make sure it's functioning as it should be.
