"Crying out for attention, memories fade, like looking through a fogged mirror." - MGMT

Once again, I decided to take an unintentional break from the blog. This time it was the fault of those darn, meddling kids. They really know how to wear their old mother out. Of course, I wouldn't have it any other way. They are such a joy. Well, maybe not when they are keeping me up all hours of the night... Anyway, the point is they are the little lights of my life, but they can be quite demanding on my time and energy. In fact, just taking these pictures was an adventure. Why don't I tell you a little bit about it? Hopefully, a story about rambunctious kids and a cute puppy will be nice and safe, not vomit-inducing like my last post.

I decided it was high time we take some photos with the old building in the back yard. I had a reader ask about our puppy, Nessie, so I figured a photo shoot in the back yard would be a good opportunity to incorporate some shots with her. Jerry and I patiently waited for the light to get right and then headed out back with the dog in tow. The kids were all in the house on their respective game consoles, so I thought we would have a few minutes of peace and quiet to snap a few pics. Silly me!

As soon as we got out to the building and started setting up, here came my three ring circus. They descended upon us and commenced to screaming and running in and out of pictures. One kid was without shoes and of course started complaining that things were sticking in his feet. His solution was to steal one of his sister's flip flops and hop around on one foot. Naturally, his sister was not happy about this, so old mom had to "step in." I thought I was going to have to carry all 60 pounds of him back to the house, but Jerry saved the day by kicking his flip flops off for him to wear. At this point, I decided to use the kid's to my advantage and put them to work. Of course, it backfired on me. I had my oldest child watch the dog, but halfway through the shoot, he disappeared with her. By the time he showed back up with her, I was a hot, sweaty, frizzy-haired mess. It all worked out, though. In the end, we were able to get the shots we needed plus some "extras."
