"Cause it’s a little bit of everything, the way you choke, the way you ache. It is waking up before you, so I can watch you as you wake." - Dawes

I kinda have this thing for mullets. Mullet skirts, that is. I had never heard this term until one of my readers called me out for wearing one last week. Brilliant, I thought! This skirt is a party in the front and business in the back. Oh, that reader knows not what they did. I'm obsessed with pointing out mullet skirts now. At the concert last week, there were mullet skirts everywhere, oh, and mullet dresses too! Every time I would see one, I would get all excited, grab Jerry's arm, point, and yell, "Mullet skirt." It provided endless entertainment before the show went on. Yes, I'm easily entertained.

In addition to loving the name, I love the way these skirts look. Hence, I'm wearing the same skirt from last week just in a different color. I'm also wearing the same shoes and belt, but I did change up the shirt. Hey, why mess with a good thing? However, I promise to wear some different shoes in my next post. I've worn these in the last 3 posts. What can I say? They're comfortable and go with everything.

I must admit this outfit is from last Wednesday. I'm a bit behind on my posts. I have a good excuse, though. I spent the ENTIRE weekend putting down a tile floor in our new house. Yes, you heard me right. Renovations are underway. No, we still haven't closed. It's a joke at this point. Question: "Have you closed on your new house yet?" Answer: "Has hell frozen over?" It looks like it's going to happen this week, though, so the owner took pity on us and let us go ahead and start renovating. We pitched it to him this way, "Well, if we never close, at least you'll have a free floor out of the deal." Poor man had no idea that neither of us had any clue what we were doing. We watched two, five minute videos on You Tube about installing tile floors and away we went. Luckily, the floor turned out great, our bodies, on the other hand, not so much. We are both walking around today like a couple of 80 year olds. Putting down a tile floor ain't no joke, especially if you are out of shape. Every muscle in my body hurts. I woke up in the middle of the night after the first day, wiggled my finger, and it hurt. I was so amazed by the level of pain in my poor, tired hands that I woke Jerry up and said, "Dude, it hurts to wiggle my fingers."

Pain aside, I'm proud of us and feel pretty bad ass that we put down a tile floor all by ourselves. Lest you think I just did "girly jobs" while Jerry did the bulk of the work, let me set you straight and toot my own horn a bit. We took turns doing it all: carrying in the heavy ass tiles and other materials, pulling up the toe moulding, cutting and screwing down the backer boards, mixing the mortar, applying the mortar and laying tiles, measuring and cutting tiles, grouting, and clean up. After, 20 hours of work, we looked over our accomplishment and shared a high five. Despite the hard work, we had a great time. We didn't fight not one single time. Much like the mullet, we mixed a little bit of business with a little bit of pleasure and turned out a good thing.

  7. Wow, that is so impressive and the floor looks great. You aren't kidding, either - putting in tile is really hard work (cutting the edges is a nightmare, oy) and you and Jerry are such a great team; what true best friends you are, at heart Love the second photo of you just about to laugh!
