"I can see a lot of life in you. I can see a lot of bright in you, and I think the dress looks nice on you." - Sufjan Stevens

Well, here I am wearing another body conscious dress. You would have thought I'd learned my lesson the first time around, but nope, I'm hard headed. Once again, I'm letting my biscuits bust out for all to see. I really love this dress which is odd considering that I usually don't care for dresses this tight, or I guess I should say they don't care for me. However, this one is incredibly comfortable, and I think it's very flattering to my figure. I even had a female co-worker say, "Bonnie, you got back in that dress." I responded by slapping my ass and continuing to walk down the hall. I know, highly inappropriate behavior for work. I couldn't help it. It was the dress's fault. It makes me want to do inappropriate things. ;-)

Seriously, this dress is magic. Maybe the secret is the crisscrossing pieces of fabric. I think they must create an optical illusion or something. I never in a million years would have thought that this 34 year old body that has gone through 3 pregnancies would look this good in a tight, horizontal striped dress. Whatever the secret, thank you Anthro for bringing this dress into my life! We're going to do great (and inappropriate) things together.

  1. This dress looks absolutely beautiful! I think it is the crisscrossing of the fabric. You look great in it! Totally love the setting. Jerry does a really good job!

I have read your blog for awhile but have never commented. All the mean comments-too much like high school.

  2. Yeah, it's pretty much fantastic. You've got me considering it — and I am in no way the same shape you are.

  3. It's ok, we slap each other's butts at my office (girls only). You look great in that dress. People need to stop hating. They're just jealous because you are blessed in the breast department.

  4. Rock those biscuits! You look great! I tote around biscuits too (same body type) and struggle with the sweater-dress temptation. This one really looks great on you and makes me think twice about this one.

  5. You look great! There is something magical about how this dress can hide the love handles. I have the layered column dress and get random compliments all the time. I also love today's location. Lovely :)

  6. That dress looks fab on you, Bonnie! Love the necklace too. :)

  7. Honestly, I just show up usually do the best I can with available light, and try to make good compositions. We both strike out walking and try to think about where, but the majority of the time Bonnie ultimately answers that question. Thanks for the props, but they should be redirected to her. And the dress? Yes, I was speechless when she walked out of the dressing room, but I don't give all the credit to crisscross fabrics.

  8. It does look ridiculous when you keep wearing clothes that are too small, but go ahead and ignore the 10 or 12 people that have told you that. Do whatever you think is best.

    ReplyDelete
  9. You look great! Also, congratulations on the house :) I'm happy for you both.

    ReplyDelete
  10. You wore that dress to WORK?!?! I think the dress looks nice, but it is not appropriate for work. Sorry. Way too body-con to be worn in a professional office.

    ReplyDelete
  11. Okay, I wanna go eat a whole cheesecake. You look amazing!!! Love looks good on you hon. I cannot wait to see pics of the new house. :)

  12. SIZE UP. SIZE UP. SIZE UP. That dress is way too tight. This isn't about me being a ~* jealous hater *~ - I think you have a great body and you are a beautiful woman. But wearing too-small clothes makes you look not-as-pulled together as you could be.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Not appropriate, as in...inappropriate? Told ya! ;-)

    ReplyDelete
  14. It's a form fitting dress. It's not suppose to hang off of me like a freaking mumu! I wish it was a requirement that anyone who tells me I look ridiculous must post a picture of themselves with their comment. I'm really curious to see what the real fashion experts are wearing. Until one of you has the balls to do that, I think I'll stick with dressing myself.

  15. Thanks, Kristin! You really should give this one a try. I guarantee you'll love it and so will your husband! ;-)

  18. Thanks, Loraine! The necklace is great. It goes with so many things!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Thanks, Mary! This dress really does work some magic!

    ReplyDelete
  20. LOL! I don't see nothing wrong with a little butt slapping! People need to losen up, that's what they really need to do.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thanks! Jerry really does deserve a lot of credit. He's pretty much awesome! Glad you finally commented! Sorry about all the high school drama. People be trippin' over some clothes. LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  22. It's not too small! That is what it is supposed to look like! FORM FITTING, which means it forms your figure... which it certainly does! Don't listen to these haters!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I love this dress. It's definitely on my wish list. I would totally wear it to work! I wore a black sweater and leopard skirt last week but in a totally tasteful way. I don't think there is anything wrong with wearing this to work. Sheesh! Especially since you wore it with flat high boots. Would be different if you were wearing platforms!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Real women have curves and I think you look great! F*** what all the negative people are saying!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Today I was watching Once upon a TIme on hulu, and it hit me how much you are Jerry remind me of Snow and Prince Charming, in their present day lives. You should really watch it if you haven't. BTW, I really like this dress on you, you should wear less ruffly dresses more often, they suit you well.

    ReplyDelete
  26. The dress looks great on you! Loved the way you styled it with your Frye boots.

    ReplyDelete
  27. The dress looks great! Totally figure flattering. LOVE

    ReplyDelete
  28. Just because you can squeeze into it doesn't mean it fits. I just think you'd look a million times better - and this is not negative jealous hater criticism, because I do think you're a pretty woman with a great shape - if you wore clothes that fit you properly.

    ReplyDelete
  29. But the options aren't just "too tight" versus "mumu". You can wear something that skims your curves and is body-conscious without making you look like an over-stuffed sausage. You've got a great body! But that dress looks too-tight, rather than form-fitting. Anthropologie clothes are nice, but it looks less pulled together and tailored when you don't wear stuff that fits you correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I would definitely wear a dress like this to work. I think it is all about the way you wear and accessorize a dress like this. You kept it simple and that makes this a classy look. Adding more jewelry and glossy high heels would have made it less classy. It might depend a bit on the type of office. But when you’re in the creative field this is appropriate. I think you look great in the dress.

  31. Gorgeous, Bonnie! Love the styling too!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I saw this post and honestly thought "there is no way there will be any negative comments because that dress is so flattering!" Go figure. It looks like the right size to me; I don't think it would be nearly as flattering in a size up. That dress is made for someone with a few curves!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wow! Over-stuffed Sausage? I'm usually my own worst critic, but I think my body looks slamming in this dress. I totally disagree with you. It is not too tight. I think it's just right. Why are people so afraid of a little booty and boobs?

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yeah, but it's just your opinion that it's too tight. It's not a known fact. There are plenty of other people that have commented here and said they think the dress fits great. The SA at the store thought it fit great. My boyfriend thinks it fits great. I just happen to agree with those people, not you. If something looks like shit on me, I ain't too proud to admit it, but I really, really love this dress. It's obvious you see this dress differently than me, and that's ok, but you are not going to convince me to suddenly change my aesthetic and start seeing things like you do. We are different people. I'll do me, and you do you.

    ReplyDelete
  35. You are exactly right. Styling is everything. With a sexy dress like this, you have to tone it down a bit. I thought the earthy jewelry and tall flat boots did a good job of doing just that. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  36. LOL! Snow White and Price Charming, huh? Well, I don't know about all that, but he certainly did rescue me from a deep sleep.

Less ruffles? I didn't realize I wore that many ruffles. However, you're right, this is not a style I would typically go for. I stepped a little outside my comfort zone with this one. I'm glad you like the change!

  37. Leopard skirt, huh? I'm shocked and appalled, Jessica! How dare you corrupt the work place with your vulgar animal print skirt! LOL!

    ReplyDelete
  38. This is the most flattering thing you've ever worn on this blog in the history of ever. I don't always agree with you, but I give credit where credit is due, and this looks fantastic.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I'm not "afraid" of a little booty and boobs. Your figure is great. This dress makes it look like you don't know how to wear clothes that fit you quite right. It'd look great if you sized it up. For a woman in her 30s, you are awfully thin-skinned! Just as one example of an outfit where you're wearing something that flatters you and fits well - the post you did a week or two ago where you're wearing a purple top and jeggings. The fit on those clothes was impeccable.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I cant believe the people that tell you the dress is too small. Helloooo...people., thats the way it is supposed to fit and i think it looks great on Bonnie. It is not at all the wrong size for her. And i would also wear the dress to work..i hate it when people are playing the puritan and innocent card....

    ReplyDelete
  41. I don't believe the person you replied to called you an overstuffed sausage. The comment was perfectly polite and offering feedback in a constructive way, even complimenting you on your figure. There is honestly no need to get so defensive every time someone says something that is not a glowing review.

You may think you're being witty with your comebacks, but you just sound like a petulant child who refuses to listen to what anyone else has to say. If you just didn't respond to the negative comments, then you would appear so much classier.

  42. I think you look FANTASTIC! This dress is very flattering on you--I wouldn't worry about the lemmings.

  43. Oh, stuff a sock in it. The dress looks fine, and she looks good in it. You're just being a PITA. Really.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I thought the same thing. I'm not a blind Bonnie shipper. I've seen outfits that don't flatter her body before. This is absolutely not one of them. It fits perfectly and accentuates her body.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Bonnie, I really like this dress on you. I've been following your blog for awhile, and this is definitely a silhouette you should try more often.

    ReplyDelete
  46. You is a nasty, fat, stupid ho.

    ReplyDelete
  47. You is a nasty, fat, stupid ho. Your kids will never respect you. Your husband is better off without you. Your mother probably regrets you. Your boyfriend is a fool. Anthropologie is all marketing. You have no sense of reality, or, to look at you in that dress, proportion. You suck.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Never commented on here before but think you look great in that dress

    ReplyDelete
  49. That dress looks gorgeous on you Bonnie - I think it's incredibly flattering to your figure! I love Bailey 44 for their body con knits.

May I ask where you got the dress in this colour way? I have only seen it in blue and neutral on the website....
