Sagebrush is a silvery gray shrub that usually grows in arid, desert environments. However, it has been known to grow in wet environments near rivers. When this happens, the sagebrush can grow to almost twice it's normal size.

I think the same can be said for individuals. We all grow a little bit each day, but a change in our environment can cause us to grow so much more than we would under "normal" circumstances. We as individuals have an advantage over the sagebrush. We have the choice to move to another environment if we feel the one we are in is not nourishing us. When we make this change, we are finally able to reach our full potential.

Of course, there is always risks involved in transplantation. The plant might not take to it's new environment. There might be insects or grazing animals that pick at it. The funny thing about sagebrush is it emits a strong, pungent fragrance. This is it's defense mechanism as it discourages would be predators.

In the journey through my own growth, I know that I might not take to my new environment. I'm prepared for that possibility. I've already experienced people picking on me. When people get me down, I strive to be like the sagebrush. I will stay strong and keep sending out kindness. I think the reward of being the best person I can be is worth the risks and hardships. I'm happy to say that so far, I'm flourishing.
