Rolling On

Roll away your stone, I’ll roll away mine
Together we can see what we will find
Don’t leave me alone at this time,
For I'm afraid of what I will discover inside

Cause you told me that I would find a hole,
Within the fragile substance of my soul
And I have filled this void with things unreal,
And all the while my character it steals

Darkness is a harsh term don’t you think?
And yet it dominates the things I see

It seems that all my bridges have been burned,
But you say that’s exactly how this grace thing works
It’s not the long walk home that will change this heart,
But the welcome I receive with the restart

Stars hide your fires,
These here are my desires
And I won't give them up to you this time around
And so, I’ll be found with my stake stuck in this ground
Marking the territory of this newly impassioned soul

But you, you’ve gone too far this time
You have neither reason nor rhyme
With which to take this soul that is so rightfully mine

-Mumford and Sons

I was riding in my car screaming these lyrics at the top of my lungs today. I love this song, and it sums up exactly how I feel right now. Speaking of that, I'm feeling great! Nothing like a good ole' therapeutic photo shoot to brighten up my day and get the creative juices flowing again! My photographer friend and I went exploring in downtown Kinston this afternoon and found these stairs. Further exploration down an alley, led us to this cool set of doors. I was wondering to myself while taking these photos what sort of things must happen in that little nook after hours. It was a very overcast day which leant itself to very good lighting. I'm wearing 3 of my 4 new purchases from Monday. The Hiking Ruffles Cardigan over the Sleeve Pitch Blouse(thanks Louise for the name), and the Ribbon Path Belt (thanks Saskia for that name). I love this combination! This cardigan is so soft and comfortable, I think I might sleep in it tonight! Speaking of sleep, I didn't get much of that last night and I think it shows in my eyes in these photos, but I kinda like it. Realness, honesty - it's a beautiful thing.

  5. Love the photos, Bonnie. Question for you or your photographer friend, what type of camera and lens does he us? Does he have a prime lense? I think some your headshots will come off soooo great if he was able to blur the background a bit. You'd be a great person to photoshoot! Hehe...maybe one day!

  7. Cindi, I shot with a 50 mm 1.4 lens today. I actually thought about some bokeh, but found myself intrigued with the contrast of textures. if Bonnie takes 2 steps forward we have a completely different shot, but again it was all about the textures for me today. Some of the shoots in the past have featured this look. Maybe next time. thanks for the imput and your right, she makes it easy.

Cathy: Thanks girl! And, yep, I'm feelin' the mojo! LOL!

Anon 4:54: Thanks so much! It all came together in the Anthro dressing room!

Chuck: They are a great band! Very authentic! I hope they tour close so I can go see them!

Cindi: Thanks! I would love for you to shoot me! Maybe one day!

Sherry: Thanks! I'm sure if you called customer service, they could find a pair of these shoes for you. I just got them on sale a couple of weeks ago.

that photo friend: You sly fox! Slipping in here and answering that question! You rock!

  11. I always look like I didn't get much sleep and it is usually true. I am a working, single mother of two! I certainly hope that there is beauty in reality!

You look fantastic. You always do. I even like the weary look in your eyes today. Somehow, on you, even that is glamorous. :)

  12. Hi Bonnie,
The shots came out beautiful. Your photographer friend is very talented. We enjoy the eye feast he provides us through your blog. Bonni, I know its been rough recently but hang in there. We live we learn! It will all turn for the better. Hope you have a good weekend.

  13. Great outfit! The colors are just beautiful with your hair/complexion. I just ordered that sweater in the purple, but i don't really think it works on my pear shape...it might be going back. Plus I think it's a little overpriced for the quality-I don't know i'm going to give it another shot today and try it with an outfit or two and make a final decision. Maybe belting it will help.

  14. Tracy D: Thanks! I love those doors too!

Joy: Believe me, I realize how lucky I am. He is so talented!

Ady: You always look beautiful! You are a awesome woman and mom! I don't know how you do it!

Cosmo Cowgirl: He is very talented! Thanks for the kind words! It means alot!

    Lan: Thanks!

Sharon: Thank you! Definitely give it another shot with a belt. I don't like how it looks on me without the belt. Even with the belt, the ruffle at the bottom makes me look like I have a little more "junk in the trunk" but I'm embracing it! LOL!
