I'm so glad it's the weekend. I need to catch up on some sleep and do some major present wrapping. I haven't wrapped a single gift! My Brass and Band Booties shipped today! Yay! I'm so excited about them! I don't have any booties, and I've been wanting some, so I really hope these work out! I see Anthro is now offering free shipping on purchases of $75 or more. I won't be taking advantage of that seeing as I've already spent my money for January! LOL! I'm so bad! I already know what my New Year's resolution is going to be - practice more self control when it comes to shopping!
I was browsing ITunes today and came across a compilation of music they had put together called New Hippie. There were alot of bands on it I like such as Bon Iver, Fleet Foxes, Iron and Wine, and Deerhunter. Ironically, the outfit I'm wearing today reminds me of something a "New Hippie" would wear. I'm thinking of starting to incorporate music into my blog. Like maybe a song of the day or something. I think I'll try it and see how it goes over.
Blouse: Anthropologie Thrush Song Blouse
Sweater: Anthropologie Curlytop Cardigan
Jeans: AE Jeggings
Boots: Frye Paige Tall Riding Boots
Necklace: Anthropologie Peach Drops Necklace
I love those bands. I never would have thought of new hippy to describe them though.
ReplyDeleteYou look beautiful, as usual. :)
They've been called New Weird America, with Devendra Banhart leading. That label as since dissolved and then there was freak folk. New Weird America makes sense to me, since it was a folk revival, and the folk movement of the 60s/70s was called Old Weird America or something like that. New hippie doesn't make as much sense.
ReplyDeleteI just looked at the comments for this compilation under ITunes. Apparently, there are alot of people put off by the label of "New Hippie." I thought it was cute and kinda fit the free spirit of the music. I don't think of Hippie as a derogatory term. I didn't relize there was such a controversary surrounding what to label these types of bands. Whatever the label, I love the music!
ReplyDeleteI love the loose look of this outfit. It's right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous outfit! As a child of hippies and embracer of all things hippie, I can't imagine Hippie being derogatory.
