"I'm just a creep in a t-shirt, jeans, I don't fuckin' care." - Portugal. The Man

It's sad fashion times these days as this was my only blog worthy outfit this week. The others were pretty boring stuff - basically just t-shirts and leggings. I've been buying a lot of t-shirts lately. In fact, I am now the proud owner of the Trapeze Baseball Tee in 4 colors. I tell myself that I'm stocking up on t-shirts for the hot, sweaty times ahead on vacation, but I'm beginning to think that these super soft, roomy tees are all I really want to wear...for the rest of my life.

Comfort is becoming an increasingly important factor in my fashion choices as I get older which is a little scary to me because I have always been a girl that puts fashion over function. During my college days, most people were sporting t-shirts, khaki shorts, and tennis shoes around campus, but I preferred crop tops, bell bottoms, and platform shoes. I had several classmates ask me if I owned a pair of tennis shoes to which I proudly replied, "Nope." Even throughout my child bearing 20's, I held strong in my fashion convictions. It wasn't uncommon to see me teetering around 8 months pregnant in stiletto heels. My sister joked around that I was going to give birth with my high heels planted firmly in the stirrups.

Well, here I am at 36, and I think I have finally given up the fashion ghost. The wedges I wore this day are the type of shoes I could have easily run around in and even played sports in 10 years ago. Now, I can barely walk my 36 year old ass across the parking lot at work in these suckers. It's sad days people...sad days. Oh well, I had a good run. I guess all good things must come to an end. I just hope I'm not wearing orthopedic shoes anytime in the near future. Jerry - I'm looking at you. ;-)

  1. For what it's worth, your wedges are quite cute, even if they hurt your feet after a while. Personally, I can't go above 2.5 inches anymore. I blame it on my mid 30s, too.

  2. I'm glad I'm not the only one. All of my heels that I used to run around in gather dust now. I just turned 35 and I'm just so over going through foot pain! I can barely walk through the grocery store with anything over 2 inches anymore! Unless it's a really good platform wedge - then MAYBE.

  3. Love, love, love the shoes. Are the bars stabby on your toes?

  4. I'm with you, Bonnie (says the lady with two Trapeze Baseball shirts of her own). I wore heels to work today and I feel like I'm teetering on 4 inch stilettos when in fact it's a moderate 2 inch pump. Yikes.

    Bring on the Birkenstocks!

  5. I feel the same way! I'm wearing 2.5 inch heels at the office today, and it's only noon and I'm ready to throw them through a window. I used to think flats looked unprofessional in the office but I wear them almost all the time now (age 39)....

  6. Yep, back in my 20's I didn't understand why anyone would ever wear flats to the office. My thoughts were, "Ew, so old ladyish..." Well, look who's the old lady now. LOL!

  7. LOL! You should have seen me going up and down the stairs at work with these shoes on. It's was a very slow process and I was clutching the railing for dear life the whole time!

  8. Nope, no stabbiness. The bars don't bother me at all. The shoes are actually quite comfortable other than the fact that my old ass can't walk in them.

  9. Yeah, I love these shoes. I think they're super sexy. However, comfort is winning out over sexy these days. Funny how the 30's really put things in perspective.
