"In blue denim I meet you..." - Lana Del Rey

Well, I've finally jumped on the Chambray bandwagon. I haven't owned a denim shirt since my grunge days in the 90's, but I was browsing Anthro's website and spotted one that I thought I could work with. While I was at it, I said "what the hell" and went ahead and purchased the skirt Anthro had styled with it. I really love this combination, but I think I'll be able to pair this shirt with many other items in my wardrobe too.

I don't really know why I haven't embraced denim (other than jeans) for the past 20 years. Man, it's so weird to think that the early 90's were 20 years ago. It seems like it was only yesterday that I was rocking the combat boots, flannel, and denim to the sounds of Guns and Roses, Nirvana, and Pearl Jam. Where has the time gone?

Anyway, I used to have some pretty bangin' denim pieces. I remember one particular denim dress I purchased from Express back in the day. It buttoned up, but instead of buttoning it, I wore it over a body hugging white knit dress as sort of a long denim vest. I thought it was da bomb.

Maybe it's the buttons that have scared me off from denim shirts in the past. It's hard to find button up shirts that fit comfortably over my chest. Also, strangely enough, my big boobs make me feel very matronly in them. I think this particular top works because it doesn't have buttons, and it is cut in a way that's flattering to my figure.

Whatever the case, I'm so glad I was able to get with the times and find some Chambray that suited me. I think this outfit is all that and a bag of chips. And if you don't like it, well...you can talk to the hand. Peace out!

  1. What a cute outfit!! I ordered this chambray top with ummm all of the tag sale items that I needed. How is the sizing? I'm hoping I ordered the right size! Looking forward to seeing how you style it in the future. :)

  2. Cute! I'm on the hunt for a structured, button chambray for these crazy printed skinny jeans I bought by Mother. They are so outside of what I usually wear (the skinnies) but are rocker cool. Sometimes changing it up is good, I hope! Hope I don't get a bunch of stares here in the burbs in my wild pants!
