Anthropologie Fitting Room Reviews

Ruched Basketry Dress ($148) This dress was a no-brainer for me since I have the same dress in green minus the sleeves. It's been at the top of my wish list ever since I spotted it online, so I was eager to try in on in the store. It did not disappoint. I tried on a medium and the fit was just as good as the green version. It's super comfortable, and I can see myself getting a lot of wear out of it through all the seasons. I didn't purchase it on this day, but I plan on doing so very soon.

Rumpled & Shirred Cardigan ($98)  I'm a sucker for a cardigan, especially longer ones, so I just had to try this one on. It looked like it ran big, so I grabbed a small. The small fit great, and I love the color. The only issue I had with it is the asymmetry of the sides - one is longer than the other. It appears that it is suppose to be this way, because the sweater actually buttons diagonally. Once I buttoned it, the asymmetry made more sense. It has a touch of wool in it, but I didn't find it itchy at all. I loved it over the Ruched Basketry Dress. I can see myself grabbing this often as an extra layer over long-sleeved shirts in the winter. It will look equally good with jeans, leggings, and dresses. Purchased.

Chatham Terry Chemise ($68) and Pierced Floral Corset Belt ($48) This chemise reminds me a lot of the grey sweatshirt dress I bought last year from Anthro's lounge section. It was one of my favorite purchases last year, so the possibility of getting something similar in a heathered brown with a slightly cowled neck was exciting. The store did not have a medium, so I tried on a small first. It was hilariously too small. It was super short and my boobs were packed into it like sardines. Of course, Jerry loved it. Typical. I wasn't ready to give up yet, so I had the SA pull a large for me. I loved the fit of the large. The length was great and the fit was much more relaxed which is what you really want in a sweatshirt dress. There was no way in hell I was leaving the store without this dress. There is nothing better than wearing pajamas to work and still looking put together. Speaking of put together, I thought the belt looked really great with this. I've had my eye on this belt to wear with some other things in my closet, so the fact that it went with this dress as well was icing on the cake.

Puckered Placket Turtleneck ($58) and Pilcro Stet Slim Ankle ($98)  When I spotted this turtleneck on the website last week, I almost bought it right then and there, but I decided to wait and see if it was in the store. Sure enough, it was. I was torn between the blue and the orange, but I ultimately decided on the blue because I was able to think of many different things it will go with in my closet. I grabbed a size medium, and the fit was spot on. This top is definitely a 10 on the boobalicious meter, but damn it, I like it, so I'm going to wear it. Boobs be damned! I found myself attracted to yet another pair of colored jeans in this mustard yellow pair. I was skeptical whether they would work on me or not. I used to love Pilcro's when they first came out, but I've been hatin' on them the past year. Every single pair I've tried on lately looks like mom jeans on me. However, I loved this color enough to give them another go. These are size 29, and they fit great. They're comfortable, my bum looks good in them, and they don't give me camel toe. Check, check, and check mate.

Here and There Tee ($48) and Pilcro Stet Slim Straight ($118)  "Put a Fox on It" is the new "Put a Bird on It", so I couldn't resist trying on this cute little tee. It was the last one they had in the store, and it was a size medium, so it seemed like fate to me. Sure enough, I tried it on and thought it was really cute. At $48, how could I say no? The fox shirt came home with me. I'm going to be so hip now! Since the colored jeans above worked out so well, I decided to try on the same pants but in plain jane denim instead. I liked the fit, but they were not as comfortable as the colored jeans. They didn't feel like they had as much stretch in them. Spandex is my fat ass's best friend. I do not purchase denim without loads of spandex, so I passed on the jeans.

Charley Striped Tee ($58)  I'm trying to embrace stripes more in my wardrobe, so I decided to give this comfortable little tee a try. I thought the colors would look good underneath a Native American inspired cardigan I purchased awhile back. This is a size medium, and it was tighter than I would have liked for this type of tee. Perhaps a large would have been better, but I had found enough things I liked on this day, so I didn't bother.

Mystery Lounge Top and AG Stevie Cord ($168)  I found this top in the lounge section and thought the print was interesting, so I brought it back to the fitting room with me. This is a size medium and the sleeves were super tight. Also, it was a little boxy for my taste. I just wasn't feeling this one, so I passed. These cords have been a my wishlist for a few weeks now, so I was greatly anticipating trying them on. What a buzz kill. I have a pair of AG Stevie colored jeans and love them, so I thought these would fit for sure. I tried a size 30, the same size I have in my other AG Stevie's, and the fit was horrible. I had camel toe for days in these suckers. It was bad. Even I have my standards. Maybe a 31 would have worked better, but like I said, I had already found too many things I liked on this day, so I passed.

  1. I LOVE that chatham chemise! But since the large fits you so well I now know there is no way in hell I'm going to be able to squeeze my 4 month postpartum baby weight still intact ass into it. Sad. However, I love the belt you put with it too. Sigh... maybe someday.;)

I have the version "put a fox on it" tee with the hotair balloons on it.

    Thanks for the reviews.

  2. Here's the last top you tried on. I think you were smart to pass on it....

Thanks for the reviews! I liked the Puckered Placket Turtleneck also, especially in the color you tried on, but I thought the puckering on the turtleneck was a bit weird. But I'm super picky so I'm sure it won't bother most.

  3. Lord, did you have a good shopping day! Seriously, everything you tried on looks terrific. I agree on the Stevie's, but aside from the fit issue, they look smashing. Good pass on the striped tee-I would think you could pick up something way cheaper with similar colors at Target, Gap, or Old Navy.
