"My regrets are few. If my life is mine, what shouldn't I do?" - Metric

I hate to go here, because I know it's been all over the media lately, but I gotta write what I'm feeling. I decided to watch Whitney Houston's interview from a few years ago with Oprah during my lunch break today. I also watched a little bit of that controversial interview she did with Diane Sawyer. I liked Whitney. She had a passion for life. It came across in everything she said and did, and I appreciate that. Did she make some mistakes and bad decisions in her life? Sure she did, but who hasn't? At least she owned them. I liked the part in the Diane Sawyer interview when she was asked what was the biggest demon for her. Her answer was, "Myself." I was also struck by her answer to Oprah when asked if she had any regrets. She said she didn't regret her marriage, her life, or anything that had happened to her because she got something from everything.

I've been experiencing bladder pain again the past couple of days, so I haven't been able to fully enjoy the idea of buying a house. The pain makes it so hard to concentrate on anything else. Sometimes when it's really bad and I'm feeling sorry for myself, I keep running the same question over and over again in my mind, "Why me?" I'm sure a lot of people would say I'm being punished for all the wrong I've done, but I don't believe that. I believe I'm going through this pain for a reason. If nothing else, it has given me perspective on life. I really appreciate the days that are pain free.

Life is made up of many moments: some of them happy, and some of them sad. We all make decisions in life: some of them good, and some of them bad. It can be so full of passion, but it can also be full of pain. We should learn to appreciate all of it, the ebb and flow of life, and we should never have any regrets. Regret is a waste. We have to take what we can from every experience and learn from it. I believe this is what Whitney did, and it's what I strive to do. Life is dynamic, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

  1. Sounds like a UTI but I would also request an STI screening.

  3. I have, several times. I've been diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis. It sucks!

  4. Yes, Kate, I have all the symptoms of a UTI, but I've been to the Urologists several times over that last year, and I don't have one. I also went to my Gyno, and there were no problems there. I've been diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis. It's a disorder where you have all the symptoms of a UTI but don't actually have one. A lot of times certain foods can trigger it, but my seems to be stress related.

  5. Yes regret is a waste but I fell into this trap.
I've been reading about Freddie Mercury's life lately and one of the Queen band members said that Freddie never complained about having AIDS. He lived his life to its fullest and paid with the consequences as we all do. I think it was very mature of him not to dwell in the fact he contracted this disease, and not to torture himself by saying "why wasn't I more careful" and many other things he could have told himself.
Instead he just faced his reality but was positive, didn't complain, didn't feel sorry for himself, recorded songs and music videos until he wasn't physically able to do any of that.
I wish I could be more like that :/

  6. I am so sorry you're dealing with that! I have IC too. I was diagnosed 12 years ago and I've been in remission (I guess that's what you'd call it! no symptoms anyway) for the past 7. I hope that happens for you. I tried all sorts of medications and procedures, and some brought relief, until one day the symptoms weren't there anymore. Focusing on overall health and wellbeing (meditation, exercise, yoga, managing my stress levels, getting good sleep and nutrition, letting go of guilt and anger, taking care of my needs) really helped more than any of the specific IC treatments. I know how painful it can be. I hope you get some relief.

So glad things are working out with the house! It sounds perfect. You will make a nice life there. :-) I hope it has lots of closet space! (I bought my place specifically for the wonderful closets lol). Love the dress and belt too. Great combo.

  8. I always do my best and don't have any regrets. I only learn from my mistakes and sometimes I make them over and over. Such is the human condition. And I don't regret being human at all... Bonnie - you ROCK! I hope you feel better one day.... I am sure it must be miserable. Sherry xoxo

  9. Try the diet for IC, also try going on a yeast free anti candida diet and adding probiotics to your diet. I have IC and this has put it into remission.
