Anthropologie Fitting Room Leftovers

Well, it's back to reality today. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! I'm sure most of you are sick of Thanksgiving leftovers at this point, but I've got some leftovers for you of a different variety: Anthropologie fitting room reviews! These are the rest of the items I tried on the day I did my party dress reviews. A couple of these items are brand new and are featured in the December catalog. Enjoy!

IMAG0759
Graphic Flutters Dress ($278).  This little silky number has two of my favorite things on it: butterflies and birds. However these critters are a little too 80's for my taste. I prefer my critters to have more of a 70's vibe. All the colors and patterns reminded me of the background of a Max Headroom video. (I know, I know. Most of you don't know who the hell I'm talking about. I feel so old...) I tried on a size 6 and it fit fine, but I just wasn't feeling the print. Pass.

IMAG0754
Tie-Neck Sweater Dress ($158).  This dress really caught my eye in the store. I love the color blocking here and the sky blue and rusty red colors compliment each other very well. I grabbed a size small, and it really clung to my curves, but not in a good way. The proportions of the color blocking are not flattering to my body type. The black band is too high up on my torso, making my boobs look like they are at my waist. The "skirt" portion is way too long, making my hips look wide. Oh, and it has wool in it, so if all those things weren't bad enough, it's itchy too. I really wanted this one to work, but it was all kinds of wrong on me. Pass.

IMAG0753
Cara, Cara Peasant Dress ($198).  With it's vibrant orange color, I couldn't help but notice this dress hanging in the store. Before trying it on, I was unsure about the print. I had visions of Mrs. Roper dancing in my head, but I decided to try in on anyway. I have to confess. I absolutely love this dress. Big, scary floral print be damned! This is a size 6 and the fit was amazing. I felt like a hippie flower child. I want to wear this with boots, a belt, and a braid in my hair, flashing the peace sign at everyone I meet. Wishlisted.

IMAG0751
Loka Blouse ($88).  This blouse looked really weird on the hanger. It's green, and I love the pretty embroidery on the neckline, so I decided to give it a chance. It did look better on me than on the hanger, but that's about the only positive I can say about the fit. I tried on a size 6, and there was way too much puffy material going on. It was everywhere. I lifted my arms and there was even tons of puffy material under my arms too. I felt like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Lady. Pass.

IMAG0750
Gather & Give Top ($48).  Given the name, I wanted to get this top just to wear it on Thanksgiving Day. Of course, there were other attributes that drew me to it as well. I love the vibrant orange color, the detail at the waist, and the low price point. I tried on both a small and a medium, and I preferred the roominess of the medium. This top is pretty low cut for my comfort level, so the extra room would be needed for a cami. I really wanted to purchase this, but there was one big problem: mother freaking wool! I can't fathom what the purpose of putting wool in this top was, because there's not enough in it to make it warmer or give it a woolly appearance. Ett Twa can kiss my ett twa for taking a perfectly good knit top and making it itchy. Pass.

  1. Oh, I actually really love that Loka Blouse in the picture! Seems like it's got terrible reviews, though, so maybe it just photographs okay but still looks bad in real life.

  2. I love the shape of the first dress on you!! The color's pretty, too. You know, I didn't even think that second dress was flattering on the model in the catalogue. I'm guessing it'll go on sale sooner rather than later, haha. This is kind of off-topic, but I was inspired by your Frye boots to get a pair of my own when Piperlime had their 20% off sale - I'm WAY excited and hope they fit!! Yours always look so cute, and it seems like they wear well.

  3. Oh Bonnie!! Maybe its because I know who Max Headroom is, but I LOVE that first dress on you! I think it is really flattering!! Please add it to your wishlist! I think it's perfect :D

  4. Love that peasant dress. It's pricey but really nice.

  5. The Max Headroom Dress--I mean, Graphic Flutters Dress--is really flattering. Mauve is a good color for you. I know what you mean about not being into the 80s stuff, though. After I looked closely at this dress, I realized that the waistband looks just like a wallpaper border my mother put up in our bathroom when I was growing up, LOL.

  6. The first dress is by far the most flattering on you. As was the first dress in the "party dress" post. The other dress that you wishlisted is not nearly as flattering. You should try to look at these photographs carefully and determine what is flattering on your body type. You have small shoulders and arms and fitted tops work much better on you than loose, peasant-type stuff.

  7. Bonnie, I need some style advice- I bought thet Ihrin Shirtdress in purple. I think it looks good with my Frye Fiona loops (they are kind of a reddish brown). I live in the midwest though so I'm thinking tights are in order. Any suggestions as to color of tights? I LOVE the dress but need to figure out how to style it for midwest winters!

  8. P.S. LOVE that green top on you too! Do you need a smaller size maybe? I actually think that Graphic Flutter dress looks awesome on you too! You can definitely pull off sleeveless well! I don't think it looks too 80's at all! That is a great color on you.

  11. Thanks Catherine! I guess I could try a X-small in the green top the next time I'm in the store. I agree that the Graphic Flutter dress is very flattering to my figure, but I'm just not into the color or pattern. It's just not "me."

  12. I agree with you on the flattering aspect, but for me fashion is about more than just what's flattering. I need the dress to fit my own personal style. The orange dress in this post may not show off my figure as well, but it's more my style than the first dress. Also, it may be hard to tell from the picture, but the fit of it is really flattering just not in a tight, sheath dress sort of way. It's also way more comfortable, and I think that's important too. I plan on trying the dress from the "party dress" post in a larger size next time. The tightness of the top was the main issue I had with that one.

  13. LOL, Rebecca. That is too funny! Even though it makes me very nostalgic, I had enough of that 80's stuff the first time around!

  14. Thanks Anna! Glad someone remembers good 'ole Max. I agree about the flattering aspect of the dress, but it's just not "me."

  15. Thanks! Yeah, I can't see the second dress looking good on many people. The proportions are so wrong! Congrats on the Frye's! They are definitely an investment piece, but you will get tons of wear out of them.

  16. Thanks JG! You know, Jerry really liked the top on me in real life. Maybe if I got an X-small it would be less puffy. If I see one in my store next time, I'll give it a try.

  17. Bonnie, you ROCK!! Thanks so much! That helps a lot! I am tall (5'10"). Do you think the "one size" thing would work? I do like that the one reviewer said they ran long. This is always a problem for me with leggings (though tights do tend to be better because at least Hue has a height range on their sizes).
