"And it's painted cherry red, cherry red now. All your dreams are cherry red inside your head." - The Kills

Most of our photoshoots aren't planned, and this one was no exception. I had no idea where we were going when we started walking downtown. I knew I wanted to incorporate my new purse from Target, so I thought it would look neat to be standing in front of some shops, but there were no shops that fit the bill. Most of the shops in our downtown are either empty or have been converted to churches. So weird... Anyway, photo boyfriend and I were utterly defeated and started wondering around alleyways. Our motto is "When in doubt, alley it out." While wondering aimlessly around said alleyways, we were going over what colors would compliment this outfit. "Cherry Red" is the first color that popped into our collective heads. See, this is what happens when you fall in love - you become collective heads. Don't worry, it's pretty painless. We started racking our brains for red doors that might be in the area. Then, in the depths of my despair, my eyes beheld the most wonderful site - an old cherry red Thunderbird by the name of Red-Bitc.

I was terrified to take pictures with this car in the middle of an alleyway. I thought, "what if the owner comes out and pops a cap in my ass." I timidly went and stood beside Red-Bitc, but I didn't dare touch her. Photo boyfriend was not impressed. He said, "This just isn't working. You need to interact with her." I started to walk away, but the new bolder me who tries to do things out of her comfort zone took over. I thought to myself, "This is too much of a coincidence. I needed a red background for photos and here she is. This is destiny!" So, I turned myself right back around and sat my butt on Red-Bitc's hood. As the shoot progressed, I became more comfortable. Red Bitc and I became great friends, there was no popping of caps, and we all lived happily every after. The End.

  2. This is pretty epic. I say print out some pics of you and "red bitc" and go back and put them on the windshield. I bet the owner would get a kick out of it.

  3. The first picture is absolutely fantastic. Like, enter it in a contest and get it framed.

  5. You were WANDERING around alleyways, not "wondering" around alleyways. You were WANDERING aimlessly, not "wondering" aimlessly. And you were WRACKING your brain, not "racking" your brain. Geeze, vanity bloggers are so profoundly stupid. The endless ME-ME-ME pictures are boring, and the level of self-absorption is disgusting.

  6. Think it's stupid? Then don't read.

  7. Jenna, you are correct to assert that it should be wandering around, but your vehement stance on wracking is far from correct. Please see http://www.dailywritingtips.com/wracking-or-racking-your-brain/ for more info. There are certainly many examples of people choosing to use wracking our brains on this wonderful internet of ours, and I could go over there and give them a piece of my mind about their choice of words, but really at the end of the day, is it worth it? And if you decide is it worth it, what does that say about you? Because it does say something about you and far less about the person at the end of your know-it-all vitriol.

And I do appreciate Mandy's sentiment, if you think it is stupid, don't read.

  8. I agree Jenna. I mean technically alleyway isn't correct. I'm think these allies aren't quite narrow enough to be alleyways. What is the cut off for that again? Also How can I personally be more absorbed in Bonnie, if she is sponging up all of that golden quality? On the other hand the actual content and whimsical quality of this post is delicious.

  9. Do you ever look 'not pretty" ????? I really don't think so. The red car, the alley, the lighting it all plays off of you, not the other way around. Your beauty makes the things you pose with interesting, gives them a story. You really have it for this photography thing, the fact that you absorb yourself completely in your shoots is what makes them so awesome. Complete immersion. I love it. Keep it up.

  10. Great idea Katie! We might just do that!

  11. Aw, thanks Lisa. Believe me, there are plenty of times I don't look pretty. I have the advantage of only showing you guys what I want you to see. Thanks for your words on encouragement!

  12. Glad you liked it baby. Thanks for having my back!

  13. Yeah, you got me. What else can I say? I think good grammar is very important which is why I proof read all my posts like 3 times before posting them. Didn't catch either of those mistakes. However, I don't think a couple of typos qualifies me as stupid. Einstein was a horrible speller. I found this article interesting: http://ezinearticles.com/?Theres-No-Shame-in-Being-a-Bad-Speller---Poor-Grammarian&id=511270. According to the article, all of us excel in different areas. I consider myself a very visual/spatial type person. It seems you are more of a verbal/linguistic type. Although, technically, geeze is not a real word, just slang. Oh, and you seem to have pretty poor communication skills. You're pretty rude. Run along now and stop picking on us stupid vanity bloggers.

  14. Thanks Sherry! I love me some Target too. Most of the stuff in my new apartment came from there. Gotta love high end looking stuff for relatively cheap prices!
