Long Winter

"If you were here, winter wouldn't pass quite so slow." - Ra Ra Riot

It was a cold, rainy Monday. I'm so sick of cold weather. It feels like this winter has lasted forever. I'm ready for some warmer temperatures! I want to get out and do some yard work. I'm ready to see the corn and cotton growing in the fields, and lay in the hammock and read a book. This staying indoors thing is not doing my mental state any favors.

Okay, we need to talk about the elephant in the room. I was not smoking crack on Saturday when I posted those hideous photos. I should have titled that post "Oompah Loompah on Mars." LOL! That is the last time I edit photos on the laptop. When I took a look at those photos on my screen at work this morning, I was horrified. They sooo did not look like that on my laptop. Thanks for being kind and not making fun of me! Although, I wouldn't blame you if you did. Oh well, we all have off days. Please forgive me! I'll try not to ever look orange again.

I sent my post off to Roxy at Effortless Anthropologie this morning. She said she is going to post it tomorrow. After reading the post by all the wonderful ladies today, I'm thinking mine's not worthy. Oh well, at least I don't look like a Oompah Loompah in my pictures! LOL! The pictures turned out really great. It was hard to choose just one, so I didn't, I chose two. Hey, only two pictures is a huge step for me!

I'm wearing one of my all-time favorite dresses today, the Globemallow Dress. I'm sure I've told the story of this dress before, but I'm going to tell it again for you new readers. I fell in love with this dress the first time I saw it in the catalog. Well, I waited too long to get it and it sold out. I searched for years on Ebay for a medium in this dress to no avail. A few months ago, a large popped up on Ebay. I decided to take a chance and order it. It was a little big, so I had it taken in, and now it fits perfect! Moral of this story: "Sometimes you can order a larger size and have it tailored." This is my first time wearing it in the winter. When I saw the orange flowers on the skirt, I instantly knew I wanted to wear my Cockle Shell Tights with it. I'm also wearing a new purchase today, the Cloudburst Chandeliers. I saw these earrings in the store a couple of months ago, and I was smitten. Problem was, they cost $58! Ouch! I waited patiently like a good girl, and I got them last week for $9.95! I literally gasp when I saw them in my jewerly box this morning. They were a perfect match for this dress! Apparently, it doesn't take much to get me excited.

Today's song is "Winter '05" by Ra Ra Riot. This is a very young band, but they are so good! I saw them open for Death Cab a couple of years ago. The two girls on strings are awesome. It really gives their music a unique sound. This song is about missing someone during a long winter. Sigh...

Be sure to check out my guest post on Effortless Anthropologie tomorrow. I'll have a special post tomorrow night dedicated to all the details behind it. Good night!
