My name is Bonnie, and I'm a Anthroholic. Oh, what that store does to me! I literally get a andrenline rush when I first walk in, and it last until I realize that I can't have everything in the store and then I start feeling very overwhelmed because I have to choose from so many beautiful things. I decided to make my trip to Anthro today instead of tomorrow. I saw and tried on many things I wanted. I ended up coming home with 4 things that I'm going to have to put under the Christmas tree so my husband doesn't kill me. LOL! I had to walk away from some other things that I REALLY REALLY wanted, but I will have to save up my money like a good girl to get them.
My shopping outfit today consist of the Lucerna Dress with an old corduroy jacket from Anthro, and my Frye boots. I really enjoyed my drive to Durham today. The trees are just beautiful right now! Please pardon my hair. I'm getting my hair cut on Monday. My bangs are out of control right now!
Now for the reviews:
Wightwick Manor Dress ($128). I really loved this dress! It runs big, because this is a size 6, and it fit perfect. No gaping of the buttons at the chest! I really wanted this dress, but it so similar to the Navy Refined Cord Shirtdress that I already own so I couldn't justify buying it over the other things that I loved. Definitely wishlisted!First Whisperings Dress ($168). This dress is so me. It has that bohemian vibe to it that I just love! This is a size small, but I ended up trying a medium and belting it and it looked even better. I forgot to get a pic. It broke my heart to leave this at the store, but it is just so expensive. My plan is to save my money for the next 3 weeks and buy it online.
Hellabore Sweater Skirt ($118) with Finessed Turtleneck ($48). I've been admiring this skirt on other bloggers for a few weeks now, so I was excited to try it on for myself. Most bloggers have said it runs big, so I tried on a small. Perfect fit! I was afraid since this is wool that it would be too itchy for me, but it didn't bother me. Wow! I picked this one up for Santa. The turtleneck was nice. It was very comfortable and figure flattering. This is a size small. Wishlisted.
Flowing Cables Sweater Skirt ($98) with Duexhill Cowlneck ($88). I saw this combo on the website last week, so I decided to try it for myself today. I really liked it! This skirt ran large on me as well. I took a small in it. It fit really good, but it was a little bit too itchy for me. I think I could wear it with tights, but I could only get one sweater skirt today, and I decided that I liked the Hellabore better. I liked the top as well. This is a size 6 and it fit well. Both of these items are wishlisted. My wishlist just keeps getting longer and longer! LOL!
No name skirt by Daughters of the Liberation ($228). I tried this leather skirt on for fun. It is way out of my price range. It was cute but not very flattering on me. The way it flared out made my hips look ginormous. This is a size 8.
Lucillae Dress ($188). My friend Steph was ooing and aahing over this dress on the website this week, so I tried this one on for her. The largest size in the store was a 6, so that's what I tried on. I couldn't quite get the zipper all the way up my rib cage, and it was a little too tight through the hips. I needed an 8 in this. So, I would say this one runs true to size. Pretty dress, just not my cup of tea.
Thrush Song Blouse ($118) with Level 99 Lily Straight Leg Jeans ($98). If you know me, you know I'm a sucker for anything with birds on it. This top was no exception. I tried on a 6 and a 8. They both fit, but I liked the flowiness of the 8 better. Even at this high price point, I couldn't resist. I brought this one home for Santa. I'm also a sucker for a good pair of jeans. These have got to be the softest, most comfortable pair of jeans I have ever had on my body, and they make my butt look pretty good too! These came home for Santa as well.
The last thing I picked up for Santa was the Limitless Strands Necklace ($38). They had this paired with the Thrush Song Blouse in the store, and they looked so good together that I couldn't get one with out getting the other.
I have some more reviews for you, but I'll save those for another day. Have a good night!
You did a great job as Santa's helper! I like what you choose and if you find jeans that fit great and feel good you better get them! I rarely find any (in my price range)!
ReplyDeleteYou are so thoughtful to take some of the burden off of Santa :)
ReplyDeleteThe flowing cables skirt looks great on you! That's how I imagined it but on some people it didn't seem to lay that way. Hmmm...i think i need to investigate this further for myself :)
Hi Bonnie! I just wanted to say I love your blog! I discovered Anthropologie during a recent trip to New York City with my husband. I absolutely fell in love! I find myself frequenting the anthro website and my local store. I love reading your blog for style ideas.
ReplyDeleteI have three kids, am 34 years old and similar proportions to you, though I am 5'10". Your reviews are very helpful! Also, thanks to you, I've discovered Ruche! What a great website!
I love the necklace and after buying one for myself, bought one for a friend in the purple for her birthday.
ReplyDeleteI like your reviews since our proportions are similar except I'm a 34b. Gives me a good sense on sizing if I have to order on line. I am fortunate and live near 3 stores.
I really enjoy reading your blog. Your outfits are so inspired and I like your fitting reviews, given that I am afraid to be seen too often by the SAs at my local Anthro. Both sweater skirts look fabulous on you. I cannot wait to try them! Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteOooh the lucillae dress is gorgeous! Will the first whisperings not go on sale if you can wait a few more weeks....?! Santa has been busy for both of us :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for reviewing the Wightwick Dress! I haven't seen it on anyone else and thought it looked pretty on the website!
ReplyDeleteYou look great in the sweater skirts, too...

I have been looking for a great pair of straight leg dark jeans under $100. What size did you get? I am usually an 8 but not sure if the 29 or 30 would be right.
ReplyDeleteSharon
Anon: I got a 28. I am usually either a 28(6) or 29(8). They are very stretchy, so I would say go with the 29. However, I must warn you that they are more the jeggins than straight leg jeans. I like jeggins, but I know some people don't. Good Luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bonnie
