Anthropologie Fitting Room Reviews - Day 1

Good evening! I'm so exhausted! It's been a long day, and I have been feeling a little homesick and lonely. It was hard for me to enjoy my trip to Anthro this afternoon because of my mood, but, nevertheless, I found a ton of stuff I loved. I bought quite a few pieces, but now I'm starting to think I should return some of them. I need your help in deciding if I should keep what I got.

Kissing Friday Dress ($158). My first thought on this dress is that it is ridiculously over-priced. It is a very thin rayon dress and the hem is unfinished. The bottom of the dress is pretty see-through. I do like the color and the detailing, but the Kindred Spirit Dress is the same color green and it is a much nicer dress for less money! This is a size small, but I think it was a little tight. The medium would have been a better fit, so stick with your true size in this one.

Ok, maybe I'm just blind, but I don't see this skirt online. I think I own like 2 pencil skirts, so they are not usually my thing, but I thought this one was so pretty it was worth a try. This is a size 6, and though it fit, I think I would be a little more comfortable in a 8. I liked it, but it just didn't feel like "me." If your a pencil skirt person, I highly recommend it!

Loosely Looped Tee ($58). There are not alot of tops at Anthro that I'm interested in right now, but this is one that I wanted to try on. I tried a size small because that is usually what I wear in Deletta tops. I think it fits good, but I'm not sure about the ruffle. Is it too much? My other dilemma is the color. I'm having a hard time deciding between the purple and the gray. Which color do you like?

Snowy Egret Shift ($168). I was so happy when I saw this hanging in the store. This is the piece I wanted to try on the most. It looked so pretty online. Too bad, it was disappointing in real life. I hated the material - it was too stiff. The neckline was huge on me, but the bottom half clung to my hips. This is a size 6, and there is no way I could size up to accomodate my hips, because I was already swimming in the top. The print and the belt are very pretty, though. So, it you don't mind stiff material and you have the right body type, this could be a knockout.

Refined Cord Shirtdress ($128). This is another item I wanted to try on. I love a good shirtdress! This one did not disappoint. This is a size 8, and it fit great except it pulled just the tiniest bit through the chest. I figured I would wear a cami under this anyway, so that didn't matter to me. I think this will be great with a cool belt and my Frye's. This was one of my purchases. What do you think? Should I keep it?

Maximum Capacity Jacket ($98). The SA brought this for me to try on over the Crocheted Clouds Dress. I'm not sure I like the items together, but I did love the jacket. It's a great lightweight, casual jacket. I think I could get alot of use out of it since it doesn't get that cold here in NC. I ended up purchasing it. Do you think it was worth $98?

Crocheted Clouds Dress ($188). I saw this dress on the mannequin as I was walking into the store. It was love at first sight! I tried a size medium first, but it was a little big, so I ended up going with the small. I think this is just a really lovely dress. I see it working with many things - tights and pumps, boots, belted, etc. It is more money than I would usually pay for a dress, but I couldn't leave the store without it. What do you think? Should I keep it?

Flanders Fields Cardigan ($128). I was afraid this cardigan was going to be itchy, but it wasn't that bad. I looked at the tag and it only has 10% wool in it, so I guess I can tolerate a little bit of wool. This is a size small, so it runs a little big. I liked it, but it didn't wow me. I think I would like it better belted. I will consider this one when it goes on sale.

Lucerna Dress ($128). Here's another dress I've had my eye on. I saw the picture of it in the new catalog with the saddle color boots and I said to myself "that would look great with my Frye's." The store only had one left, and it was a size small. The SA said they just got them in last week and they have already sold that quickly. The small fit great! I see this with a long cardigan and boots in the winter. I snatched this up! Should I keep it?

So, I got the Loosely Looped Tee, Refined Cord Shirtdress, Maximum Capacity Jacket, Crocheted Clouds Dress, and the Lucerna Dress. Which ones do you think I should keep? Thanks in advance for your advice. I tried on more things, but this is all I have the energy to post for now. I'll be back with more reviews tomorrow! Have a good night!

  1. Are you at the Anthro in Reston? It looks very familiar. That's five minutes from my work.

My SA also recommended the Lucerna dress. While I loved the color, I didn't like the way it fit. The draping and the neckline was not flattering on me. It made me look flat chested and accentuated my tummy area and made look wide.

If you were to keep one, I would do either the Refined Cord shirtdress or the Crocheted Clouds dress. The refined cord shirtdress because it's so versatile and you'll get a lot of wear out of it. I would do the Crocheted Clouds dress because I don't have anything like it in my closet. It's unique. I have a thing about owning too many shirtdresses. Sorry for the long post.

  3. I like the Loosely Looped Tee (although I have a feeling that one will definitely make it to sale, if you can hold out that long) and the Refined Cord Shirtdress the best. I also like the Lucerna Dress on you.

  4. I like the refined cord dress, because it is a classic piece and it can go with boots and tights. The crocheted clouds looks very unique. While everything else looks nice. I like those two pieces the most.

  6. Great reviews Bonnie, everything looks good. I think the skirt is the Luminous Graphite Skirt.

Anyway the Refined Cord Shirtdress has to be a keeper, with your Frye boots and child oriented lifestyle I think this dress would be a winner. It loosk both comfortable and practical.

I vote purple for Loosly Looped but it does strike me as a sale item as Caitlin said (which is what I am hoping for too!)

Enjoy the rest of your trip :)

  7. Hey - I loved the Crocheted Clouds on you - you're the first person I've seen to rock that dress - it washes most people out, but on you it's gorgeous. With your boots and any number of cardigans, it's a home run. The refined cord dress will never go out of style, so it's keeper. The Loosely Looped T in purple is really, really nice on you, and I don't think the bow is over the top. Too bad about the Snowy Egret - maybe it'll come down to like, $29.99 some day, and you can have it tailored to fit - because the colours are YOU. Thanks for the reviews!

  9. I don't think the ruffles in the loosely looped tee is too much at all. I do like the maroon/red more on you though because I think it makes your new red hair pop!!! I also love the cord shirtdress on you as well.

  10. Looks like you did some fun shopping! Isn't it neat to see other Anthro stores while you're on a trip?! I'm hoping to check out the Albuquerque store next month while I'm at a conference.
I like all of the things you got but my favorites are the Lucerna Dress and the Cord Dress. Both are definitely keepers! :-)
