"So I stand in the sun and I breathe with my lungs trying to spare myself the weight of the truth, saying everything you have ever seen was just a mirror and you've spent your whole life sweating in a endless fever." - Bright Eyes

I need to stop thinking so much. Too much thinking is detrimental to my health. I'm reminded of a quote I read recently, "I think and think and think. I‘ve thought myself out of happiness one million times, but never once into it.” Yep, that's me. I overthink everything and usually my thoughts are on the negative end of the spectrum, clouding all that I see. It's like I can't allow myself to just be in the moment and enjoy life. I'm starting to realize that things are best when you don't overthink them.

Take this outfit. It's one of my all time favorites, but it's so simple. It's basically an oversized sweatshirt with an interesting detail on the sleeves. It caught my eye in the lounge section of Anthropologie over the weekend. Something about it just screamed effortlessly chic. It also doesn't hurt that it's so comfortable that it's equivalent to wearing pajamas. I got so many compliments on it. One of my co-workers did a double take when she saw me. She was like, "Is that a sweatshirt dress?" I said, "Yeah, I guess it is." She said, "Wow! I love it! Now, I want one."

Oftentimes the simple things are the most beautiful. Life doesn't have to be so complicated. I need to find joy in the little things instead of "sweating the small stuff." From here on out, I want to stop analyzing my life and looking for truth and meaning and just enjoy living it.

  1. This reminds me of these lyrics from Paul Simon.

    The boy's got brains
He just don't use 'em that's all
    The boy's got brains
He just refuse to use 'em and that's all
He said "The more I got to thinkin
The less I tend to laugh"
    The boy's got brains
    He just abstains

Sounds good, but it's a difficult thing to do. Seems odd, but I know for myself it takes work to stop my constant analysis... This is usually when I delve off into some anthropological ramblings. Maybe I'll just take your advice and go watch "Family Guy" while I wait for my love to arrive.

Oh and I'll never look at sweatshirts the same... Giggidy ;)

  3. 77534. I know all about the 2 dark browns. A friend of mine has the other dark brown. It's more shinny. Mine have a more distressed look. Good luck!

  4. I've never heard that song. It came out in '79, so I was only 2. You were 14, so I guess that was a hot track back in your day. ;-) I listened to it. Love the lyrics, not really digging the song itself. Thanks for sharing, though. It's been kinda quiet on here lately. It seems you may be the only friend I have left.

  5. I think it's working. Or maybe I should just say it's working. Without thinking. You're obviously happy. This is an easy look for you. I'm jealous everyone can wear boots. Hoping for boot weather soon.
