"So that's how I learned the lesson that everyone's alone and your eyes must do some raining if you're ever gonna grow." - Bright Eyes

I had one of the best days I've had in a long time. It was one of those days where you feel so good you sing along to the radio on the way to work and really get into it. I was banging my hands on the steering wheel and everything! It felt good to feel good. I had so much positive energy, and the world seemed like a beautiful place again. Oh, how I long for more days like today.

I've been through a lot lately, brought on entirely by decisions I made to change my life. I feel like I was stagnant as a person for a really long time. I needed to change my environment so I could grow. It hasn't been easy. There have been a lot of tears shed and days full of doubt and hopelessness. People have passed judgement and tried to tear me down, but I never let them break my spirit. In the end, it was all worth it to have this beautiful life I'm living now.

I find this wall very interesting. Notice the pattern? It looks as if a vine was growing there and was cut down, but the pattern of the plant still remains. What a beautiful example of perseverance. I find the pattern left on this wall even more beautiful than the vine itself would have been. I love it when life imitates nature.

  1. Bonnie i've been following your blog since you started and i'm just so happy for you. I think it's stupid that people would judge your blog when it's your little place in the world you could do what you want. I know you struggle with anxiety and it's just great to see that you are starting to get at a good point in your life to where you are happy with everything. You seem like a wonderful person and mother and I just couldn't be happier for you.

  2. You do look *so* happy in these pictures. I'm glad things are looking up!

(and I do love the wall caress, haha!)

  3. Great pics Bonnie. These are my favorite to date. I like the hint of red in your hair. I think you should amp up the color and take it to the next level. (like a huzzy red..lol) You have the right skin tone to pull it off but it would make coordinating your outfits a bit more challenging. Just my opinion... have a great Thursday. Tell everyone that I said hello.

  4. I hate to just recapitulate a comment I've already made, but it really DOES seem like someone has flipped a switch in you! You're just glowing! Positive energy IS a good thing--you walk a little taller, smile a little lighter and the very white noise around you sounds like music. Most importantly, I'm glad to see you channel this energy outside of your blogging responsibilities and into your daily life.

    (p.s. I LURVE those sandals!)

  5. Love your sense of humor! And the new haircut and color! Looks great! The wall pic is hilarious!
Off topic and dumb question but do you weatherproof your Fryes at all? Do you wear them in the rain or bad weather?

  6. Agreed Olympia! Go bitch red! Also, that wall is fabulous.

  10. Bonnie:

I've never been a reader of your blog in the past - but found you through the GOMI post - just wanted to say I think you were fantastically funny in your comments and it was great to see someone respond to that kind of criticism with humor and grace. :)

  11. omg typo--I meant that you smile BRIGHTER...which technically is "light" in the characteristics of its properties, but oh well

  12. That picture with you smiling and looking up is amazing, I love when you open-mouth smile :) I am sorry you have had to deal with all that crap over at GOMI, but you have such grace with dealing with it. Did you change your bangs? I like the full bang on you, that gives me inspiration to keep trying to grow my hair out.

  13. Thanks so much for this. I really touched me.

  14. What can I say? I'm just a loving person. This wall was too beautiful not to caress.

  15. Thanks! I'm trying to do more open-mouth smiles. They are starting to come more natural now. I didn't change my bangs, but I recently got them cut.

  16. Thanks Erin! I was so angry at first, but once I got over it, I could find the humor in some of it.

  20. LOL! "Bitch Red." Me and Red Bitc would really be a pair then.

  21. Thanks! No, I haven't put a thing on my Fryes. I have warn them in the rain, but under the safety of an umbrella, so they have never gotten really wet. I'm curious to see how they hold up the 2nd year.

  22. I am feeling really good lately. I hope this means I've turned the corner on this round of anxiety and depression. Thanks for all your positive comments! These sandals are great. I've had them for 2 years, and they are still going strong.

  23. Thanks girl! I don't know if I could handle the "Huzzy Red." LOL! Enough people think I'm a huzzy as it is. It might get really ugly if I provoke them with my hair. Miss you!

  25. This dress is great on you! And good on you for having a sense of humor about the whole GOMI thing. Most of the people over there really are fun, and you have won them over with aplomb.
