An Unusual Outfit of the Day

191

This is my outfit of the day. Glamorous isn't it? LOL! This is what I look like when I'm typing on my blog. I don't know what is going on with the back of the laptop. It looks like something has clawed it with dirty fingers. Hmm...I wonder if that something could have possibly been that sweet, angelic little girl smiling for the camera. I'm going to have to give it a good cleaning. The funny thing is, this was my son's Christmas present from the in-laws, but I've pretty much taken it over at this point. Nothing's better than being able to use a computer from the comfort of my sanctuary. He hates that I use it, but I just bribe him with some video games or toys and then he's cool with it.

I don't have a real outfit today because I did my photo shoot for my post on Effortless Anthropologie. I had such a good time! It's always fun to have a concept in your head and then see it come to fruition. We took tons of photos. The light kept changing while we were out there. We would think we were done and start talking, and then they would pick up their cameras and start clicking away again. The whole photo shoot was a really natural, organic process that I think will produce some really great pictures. Of course, all I need is one shot. It's going to be hard to pick just one. I'll be sure to do a post on here with extra photos once it runs over at EA, and I'll also tell you all about the "they" that took my photos.

I'm pretty sure my whole family thinks I'm bonkers now. I called my mom up to ask her if she would mind coming by to iron my dress. She was like, "What dress?", and then she said, "Oh yeah, I remember. It's for that "mess" you're doing today." I said, "Yes, mom, but do you have to call it a mess?" Then she sarcastically said, "Your photo shoot." When she got to my house, she said, "You need to decide if you are going to be Holly Homemaker or a fashion model." I told her I was going to be both. She just laughed at me. I went over to my dad's for the photo shoot. He was pretty cool about the whole thing. However, he was drinking beer and talking about the family issues again and then he ask me what I had put in my hair. I was like, "Nothing." He was like, "Oh, it looks like you've put something in it." Then it dawned on me, he was talking about my hair color. I said, "Oh, your talking about the color? Yes, I've colored it. Does it look okay?" He said, "Yeah, it's alright, I guess." Wow, I was feeling really confident at this point. To top everything off, my sister kept riding by while we were taking pictures. She lives right beside my dad, and it was like she didn't want to come home until we were finished taking the pictures. I just know she was thinking, "Oh my God, my weirdo-freak sister is out there taking pictures again." I'm definitely the black sheep in the family, but I'm okay with it. At least, I'm finally being true to who I am and doing the things I enjoy.

Well, I guess I've vented enough. Sorry! It's just hard when you want your family's approval, but they just look at you like your crazy. It gives me comfort to know that even though my family doesn't understand me, there are some people out there that do. Thanks readers!

Today's song is "Moon River" by Henry Mancini. I'm going way back with this one. This song was very significant for me today. I'm going to keep the reason why a secret until the post runs on EA, and then I'll tell you all about it. Good night!

**For some reason the Henry Mancini version won't play through GrooveShark, so I'm posting this Morrissey version instead.

  1. I LOVE this song! And it doesn't get better in my opinion than when Audrey Hepburn sings it. And this is one of my favorite pics of you! Adorable little girl and it's just so sweet. Looking forward to reading your post on EA.

Hope you have a great week,

  2. Ooh, I love it when your little angel sneaks into your photos and when you're smiling and looking happy. She seems to be growing fast and looking more like a big girl every time. Can't wait to see your pictures on EA. I'm guessing an Audrey Hepburn is coming up?

  3. You have a beautiful smile on your face. I guess it's the comfy pjs and huggable little one that brings out those extra pretty smiles in us mommies. :)

  4. You have a gorgeous smile Bonnie, you should smile more often with your mouth open!! It's beautiful!

Also, I don't think you're the black sheep in your family...by the sounds of it...it seems like you're the one actually living life and everyone seems a tad jealous! So keep it up because you do a freakin' amazing job blogging and your hubby takes stunning photos of you! So don't let any comments about your hair, or that you need to choose one job over the other affect you, because you CAN do both!!!!!

  5. Bonnie, you look so gorgeous even in PJs, and you daughter is absolutely adorable! Can't wait to see the EA post! So great to hear you're doing what you enjoy, and we readers definitely appreciate your beautiful photos and blog! Also, your post reminded me of my 3 hour rule -as much as I love my parents, I strongly believe I shouldn't live too close to them!

  6. I know you didn't ask for advice, but I think it might be a good idea for you to have a talk with your family and tell them that you've been going through a difficult period and that you would appreciate a little more support when it comes to the things that do bring you joy. There's absolutely no reason for your mom to be sarcastic when it comes to your photo shoots. Sometimes family members don't realize that the things they say can hurt other people's feelings unless you tell them so, and then it will help them be more conscious of not putting you down when it comes to your blogging. I'm sure they don't want to hurt your feelings and are dong so inadvertently.

Anyways, you still look pretty today and your daughter is adorable!

  7. I just have to say, as a fellow small towner-people seem not to understand things like fashion or how important a creative outlet is! My mom is the only family member I've breathed a word to about my blog-and my friends don't know either-I just find it easier that way, so I give you credit for sharing! I love your outfits and your home and your daughter I don't find you to be a black sheep at all! I find you a fellow small town fashionista!

  10. Kristin: Aw, thanks! I'm glad you like the song and the picture!

Marie: Thanks! Nope, no Audrey Hepburn. Good guess, though!

Melanie: Yes, my babies make me so happy!

Jill: Thanks for the words of encouragement! Everyone always tells me to smile more with teeth, but I'm just not a teeth smiler. I'll try to throw some teeth smiles in every once in awhile. ;-)

Jen: LOL! Love your 3 hour rule!

Kelly: Thanks for the advice. I've talk to them about it, but my family just doesn't get me and they seem unable to stop themselves from making comments. It's okay. I've learned to deal with it.

Minnesota Maven: Aw, thanks! Your exactly right! Small town people just don't seem to get it. Oh well...

the guy with the smile: A man! Yay! Welcome! Thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoy the music!
