Should It Stay or Should It Go?

Another long day! It felt like I was at work for 12 hours instead of 8. I had a great break in my day, though - I took my photo for my New Year's Bloggin Eve contest. It was so much fun, and I'm really excited about it! I haven't seen the finished project yet. My photographer friend is lending me his photoshopping skills, so it is a work in progress right now.

Since I wore the outfit for my photo shoot today and I don't want to reveal that until Saturday, I don't have a outfit to share with you today. I do, however, need your help. I got the Wightwick Manor Dress on sale last week for $50, and, just my luck, I ordered the wrong size. It fits pretty good in the arms and chest, but the waist is a little big and the bottom is a little more flared on the sides than I would like. I belted it to alleviate the waist issue, but there is not much I can do about the bottom half. Maybe ironing it would help? Anyway, what do you think, readers? Should I keep it? I did get it at a great price, and it would be alot of hassle to try and track down a size 6. Any input would be appreciated!

  1. Wow! That looks fabulous on you! I think the slightly looser fit makes you look thin. Love it! Looks adorable with the belt and the boots! Definitely a keeper!

  2. I think you should keep it. The cut of the dress is flattering on you. I can't tell that the waist is too big - it works well with the belt.
    look forward to your photoshoot!

  3. I guess i am a contrarian. The dress looks ok, but i think a 6 would be more figure flattering. Jmo, if you feel good in it keep it!

  4. I'd track in down in a 6 if you can, and if they don't have it then keep this one. It looks like a pretty good fit to me.

  5. I think the dress looks great on you, but if you would feel more comfortable in the 6, then you should try to track it down. I bought that dress last week too...I wish I was able to get the Looping Lanes belt. I can't wait to see your New Years Eve outfit...I hope that I remember to get mine to you in time :)

  6. Keep it! It looks great! If you're worried about the flare around the hips it would be a very easy and inexpensive fix at the tailor. I am very petite and occasionally have skirts/dresses taken in at the sides to avoid too much of an a-line which can be overwhelming on me. Also wanted to mention-- I have 2 pairs of the Frye Paige boots too and they are THE BEST! I have enjoyed seeing you style them-- you've given me some good ideas!

  7. Santa Monica, CA had alot of these dresses last week. Maybe they'd have your size. Or call customer service. I bet you could track one down. If you're questioning the fit now, then it will probably always bug you a little bit that it doesn't fit better. So I think you should try to get the smaller size.

  8. I think it looks good on you, but maybe a size 6 would be a little more tailored on you and look even better!

  9. The dress looks good, but I will try track down a 6, which you have mentioned before was a perfect fit. Like what Lisa said, if no 6 then just keep the current size 8.

  10. I think it looks fabulous! Way cute with the belt, too. As for sizing, I think it looks perfect - my issue with sizing down in shirtdresses is that they always pull in the bust, even if they fit everywhere else, so I always go for a slightly bigger size and use a belt to nip it at the waist. But you should go for whatever you're comfortable in!

  11. It looks great on you. Look at your picture of the field skirt, its very similar, just a little longer ,but from the waist down they fit the same. It has a flowy flair. Its a great warm color too! If you had only tried on the 8 you probbally would not have any doubts. I think its a timless classic as most shirtdresses are.

  12. I like it Bonnie, if you have the time and energy to try and find a 6 that might set your mind at rest but I don't think this looks too big in the 8 and for $50 as Anon said above, it really looks a timeless piece. Better for a shirtdress to have a little extra fabric over the bust than too little, as I know only too well with my two-wheeler :(

  13. Oh I think it's fantastic! I'm not a huge fan of this dress but it looks really great on you! I don't think it looks too big- it's definitely generous in the upper body but I don't think it looks bad. It might be nice to have a looser/more relaxed dress for days you want to be more comfortable

  14. This dress seems to suit you so well. I do think it looks a tad roomy in the skirt, but I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't pointed it out. But if you think the roomy fit would prevent you from getting as much wear out of it, I would definitely track down the 6.

  15. If you aren't 100% happy with the way the dress fits I'd say send it back. I don't think the 8 looks bad on you, but I think the 6 might be more flattering.

Anthro comes out with so many amazing pieces that (in my opinion) it's silly to get something you don't absolutely love in every way - even if it is marked down to $50. Know what I mean?

  16. bonnie could you get it taken in if you can't find a 6?

  17. I think it looks perfect! Looks like it is just loose enough so that is not pulling at at the bust. Keep it!
