Anthropologie Fitting Room Reviews

Adelie Blouse ($148)  I'm not much for quirky prints, unless of course they look like they came out of a Cabela's catalog and make me look like a cute old granny, but I have to say the print on this blouse is just too darn quirky to resist. Who doesn't love Penguins? My mom once told me I should be more like a mother penguin, so I say if you can't join them, wear them. I tried on a size 6, and it fit just fine. I'm really digging this little blouse, but I'm not digging the price. I'm gonna sit on this one through the long, cold Winter and hope for a price cut. Wishlisted.

Amrita Cardi ($78)  I pretty much love everything about this cardigan. The color, the ruffly open front, and the pretty embroidery on the back all captured my heart. I usually take a size medium in Tiny, and this item was no exception. The only thing I didn't love about it is that the material is very thin. I can't see this keeping me very warm on a cold Winter's night. A cool Fall evening perhaps, but those are not very frequent here in Eastern NC. It's either hot as hell or freezing, not much in between. I might be tempted to forget about the thin material if this went on sale, so I'm not ready to quit this one yet. Wishlisted until we meet again.

Split Ladder Tee ($48)  I only tried on this top because it was cheap by Anthro standards. Do you guys do that - try on a item from Anthro that you are not really that into because it's OMG under $50? I figure if I do end up liking it, I get a full priced item from Anthro without breaking the bank and everyone will just assume I paid like $80 for it or something. Just kidding! Anyway, I should have stuck with my gut instinct and not succumbed to the cheap price tag. This top was all kinds of awful on me. It was very short-waisted, and it managed to make my boobs look very saggy and sad. :-(  This one may not break the bank, but it sure does break the sex appeal. Pass.

Back Porch Dress ($138)  I've been wanting to try this dress on for some time now. I love me a good knit dress, and I don't have a brown one in my repertoire. I tried on a size small, and it fit pretty good. The top part is loose and puffy, so it took a few seconds to get it sitting just right. This dress didn't blow me away, but I think it has potential with the right accessories. I didn't like it enough to pay full price for it, so I'm gonna try this one again once it goes on sale. Wishlisted.

This is the sweatshirt dress I wore in yesterday's post. I can't find it online, so I'm not able to provide a name or a link. It was in the lounge section of my store, and it was $78. I purchased it in a size medium. Love it!

  1. The penguin blouse is very cute on you! The colors really stand out against your hair and skin tone. Holding out for a sale would be a great idea! I'm not sure if it's from the angle of the pic, but it looks a little small. Maybe it's just the angle?

  2. Man...you look super slim these days, lady! Thanks for the reviews...you always try on stuff I've been thinking about.

  3. That penguin top and the sweatshirt dress look great on you. The Back Porch Dress isn't my favorite, but with a belt and necklace, seems like it might have a lot of potential.

On an unrelated note, you're scaring me about Eastern North Carolina being "freezing." I'm moving there next summer (from Florida) and have been reassured that it's not *too* cold. (I've only been there in the spring and summer) I have a feeling I'm going to be dying of cold, LOL.

  4. Love the Back Porch dress on you! You look good in brown! You should get it hemmed though if you do get it. It is a wee bit too long on you. That other dress you posted a couple posts ago- hem that one too (the one with the pics where you are hiking the dress up with your hand all the time). The sweatshirt dress is awesome! I think I want one too, though might be a little short on my 5'10" self. What is the length of the dress, ballpark? Looks adorable on you!

  5. Thanks, and I agree with you on the length of both dresses. I'll take your advice and get the Grid Dress hemmed. It wasn't so bad when I wore it with sandals, but the length really is an issue with boots. As far as the sweatshirt dress goes, the shortest I'm usually comfortable going is 35", so I'd say this dress is around that length.

  6. Thanks Rebecca! Jerry wasn't a big fan of the penguin print, but I think it's cute.

Well, freezing to me is in the 40's, so don't get scared. I have a low tolerance for cold. We should get together sometime next summer! Maybe a trip to Anthro... ;-)

  7. Have I told you lately that I love you? I'm feeling super fat, so I needed to hear that. Thanks!

  8. Thanks! I didn't think it was too small. It zipped up, and I felt like I had plenty of room in it, but, hell, I'm starting to think I'm mental or something, because a lot people swear I'm a size 12. Maybe I'll try on an 8 next time and see if it makes a difference.

  9. I'd pass on the Back Porch Dress because it's just OK....nothing special. Can't you even find something like that at Old Navy. I say wait for another jersey dress because there will definitely be a better one. Plus, I think it's important to buy only what you love.
I love penguins but that top is a bit too much. I feel like it's something you wear once and then you'd be over it. It might be the blouse itself that I don't like. Maybe I'd prefer the penguins on a skirt.

  10. An Antro trip would be fun! I'm going to need to totally revamp my wardrobe for NC. Where I live now, it doesn't really go much below 60, even in the winter, so 98% of my wardrobe is light skirts, short-sleeved blouses, and sundresses. I'm going to freeze my butt off, but at least it gives me an excuse to buy a bunch of new clothes ;-)

  11. The penguins look way cuter than the Cabela's dress.

  12. P.S. Any good Ruche finds lately? You should do a "what I am loving right now" post or something of fashion finds that you see. Just a thought. You have excellent taste!

  13. I really like that last dress on you. I wouldn't be surprised if it turns up in the lounge section online as a nightgown but I think it looks great with the boots. Definitely shows its outdoors potential! You look so little in these pictures though! I'm sure you hate strangers chiming in, but make sure you're taking good care of yourself =)

  14. Eastern North Carolina has ice storms, snow, and cold weather, so I think the person posting from FL might be just a bit disappointed.

  15. The Adelie blouse looks phenomenal on you. I think it's the best thing I've seen on you yet. You must put it at the top of your wishlist if you're ok with the funky penguin print!
