EA Things You Love Post - The Details

When Roxy at Effortless Anthropologie contacted me last week about doing a guest post on her blog, I got very excited. She wanted me to give her between 150 and 400 words on something I love and include one picture, so, of course, I gave her 450 words and 2 pictures. LOL! I didn't have to think twice about what I wanted to write about. Music is the love of my life. Yes, I love my family and all that good stuff, but I can honestly say that I wouldn't be much good to the people I love if I didn't have music in my life.

Deciding on what to include as a picture took a little more mental effort, but it all mysteriously seemed to fall into place. It has been on my mind for some time now to move my grandmother's piano. I made up my mind last week that I was going to get my dad to move it for me this weekend. On Friday night, as I was getting ready to go to bed, an idea popped into my head. I thought, "Since we'll be moving the piano this weekend, wouldn't it be cool to take some pictures with my piano outside?"

Now, I had an idea, but I needed someone to execute it. Yes, I could have gotten my husband to take my picture, but an opportunity like this doesn't come around that often, so I thought, "it sure would be nice to have a professional do it." Well, as you know, I've been having trouble sleeping lately. That night, I woke up at 3 am and checked my Facebook. I had a message from one of my girlfriends. I work with her fiance', and we are both crazy about Anthropologie. She was just checking in on me since I've been having such a rough time lately. She and her fiance' are very talented photographers who have their own photography business. It seemed like fate was staring me in the face. I replied back to her and ask her if she would be interested in taking some photos of me and my piano outside. She said yes!

Now, for the final piece of the puzzle. That age old question, "What do I wear?" The first dress that popped into my mind was the Time Gone By Dress. I kept second guessing myself over the next couple of days because this dress has no color, and I thought, "They always tell you to wear color on picture day at school." Well, I've always been a rebel, so I decided to stick with my original pick. The finishing touches were lace tights, the Tritone Trumpet Heels, the Pessinus Garden Necklace, a Filigree Ring, and a flower hair pin.

My friend and her fiance' took tons of photos over the course of an hour. The weather was beautiful - almost 60 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. We took some pictures then talked awhile. As we were talking, the sun continued to go down and the lighting just got better and better, so we took some more pictures. I would like to share with you 20 of my favorite shots. These pictures are very special to me, because this is my grandmother's piano that she left to me when she passed away. The sheet music was my aunt's. She took piano lessons when she was a little girl. She is almost 70, so this is some pretty old sheet music. It's my favorite song to play, Moon River.

I've been going through some difficult times lately. I still am. I really needed this experience in my life. It took my mind off my problems for a little while. I'm so grateful to everyone who helped me follow through on this crazy idea. I couldn't be happeir with how it all turned out!
